March 2011 - Vol. 8, ISS. 1
Happy New Year! Time for a fresh new start! 2011 is also the "Year of the Rabbit" in the Chinese calendar, which promises to bring peace and tranquility.
Let there be peace and let it begin with me is the Rabbit motto. Keeping that in mind, may we all work together to mend fences; build bridges; promote diplomacy, negotiation and cooperation to advance our mutual successes. May our focus be on creating healthy harmony.
In this newsletter, we share ideas and ways in which our members have been involved in creating harmony and community in their area.
The Janeway Project -a wonderful example of a local centre collaborating with others for the benefit of their patients.
Matching Gift Programs - a special way to build awareness and increase your support of AboutFace.
Ms. Jill Fraser, a new camp volunteer who shares her personal journey of caring, sharing and giving back.
Finally, UnMasked will kick off 2011 for AboutFace. This event will bring voices, smiles and friends together in celebration of AboutFace's 25 years of serving Canadians with facial differences and their family! Join us on March 29th at The Carlu. Our MC is Ms. Suhana Meharchand from CBC News. Our live performer is Mr. Robert Pilon, Canadian singer and performer; known for his role as Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera. He will perform live for the first time with the new AboutFace Glee Club. And finally, we will "unmask" a new art program with Artist Jeremy Bortz: Garden of Smiles.
We hope you will join us!
