AACLD Awarded New Grant!
|
|
The AACLD is excited to announce a new grant from the Oak Foundation. This grant will significantly expand the AACLD's outreach to parents nationwide. The intent is to create a movement for change that results in an improved and socially just quality of education for African American children with learning differences. Grant activities will include increasing access to tools and resources, educating communities about the culturally sensitive issues facing minority students with learning differences, and training and supporting parents in their efforts to achieve the desired educational outcomes for their children.
Stay tuned for more information as we roll out a brand new agenda for 2012!

Give Hope . . . Support AACLD!
|
The AACLD continually receives requests from parents and other caregivers across the country asking for help and hoping to improve the outlook for their struggling child's future. We also hear from teachers and school administrators on the front line who want to make change.
"I found the AACLD when I was at my whit's end--nothing online and no other parents to talk to. The information I found on your website and received in your advocacy class was extremely helpful. I learned strategies that my counterparts were not aware of and shared it with all."
-- Suburban Parent of a Child with a Disability
"Thank you so much for the creation of the AACLD website. I
conducted a Google search for hours seeking information that your
website now provides. I am relieved to discover that assistance is
available sensitive to our needs."
-- Parent, Edison, New Jersey
"As a teacher for the past ten years, I have witnessed the frustration and hopelessness of many parents. I am alarmed at the number of African
American males that are not experiencing success in their base schools and are placed in my alternative education class for behavioral issues. This experience (webinar) has ignited a fire in me for change."
-- Atlanta Metro Area
Donations to AACLD help to improve our advocacy efforts by increasing access to information and resources as well as training parents to be better advocates for their children. As the AACLD begins its second decade of service, please consider making a tax deductible contribution.*
