CHADD's National Resource Center on ADHD to Host
"What African Americans Should Know About a Diagnosis for ADHD"
On Wednesday, July 13, at 3:15 p.m. (Eastern time) the National Resource Center on AD/HD, a program of CHADD (Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder), will host a free live online chat to discuss what African Americans need to know about a diagnosis of ADHD for themselves and for their children. U. Diane Buckingham, MD, will address cultural concerns, questions about treatment and medication, co-existing conditions and how ADHD affects African American and multicultural families.
Dr. Buckingham is a child and adolescent psychiatrist with a wealth of experience and expertise. She is a graduate of University of Kansas Medical Center and is board certified in adult and child and adolescent psychiatry. She has been named one of American's top ten African American psychiatrists. Dr. Buckingham travels the country giving speeches to educate parents, teachers and health professionals about culturally correct assessment tools and treatment options for not only ADHD, but other behavioral and mental health diagnoses.
