| Chair's Corner
Thanksgiving and the holidays are always a good time to reflect on the year and everything we are grateful for -- family, health, and the ability to help others who are not so fortunate. It is also a perfect time for me to thank all of you for the opportunity I have had this past year to serve with each of you.
It is truly a privilege to serve as Chair of the San Diego Women's Leadership Council. It's a pleasure to interact with dynamic, energetic women who share a common desire to make a difference in our community.
Thank you so much for choosing to serve our community through the Women's Leadership Council and for all you do to support the San Diego region in so many other ways. The very best to you and your families during this Holiday Season!
Warm regards, ~Kristy Gregg, WLC Chair

Serving Those in Need
| On November 30th, eight Women's Leadership Council volunteers worked diligently in the kitchen of St. Vincent de Paul Village in downtown San Diego. They scooped macaroni salad, put BLT fixings onto plates, and greeted each person who came in for a mid-day meal.
While some people wouldn't look them in the eye, others drank in their smiles and returned a beaming smile of their own. After receiving hundreds of thank yous, there was no doubt to the WLC volunteers that everyone was thankful for the meal.
Reflecting on the day, WLC members felt the experience was especially meaningful: it reminded them how much each of us has to be thankful for. "It truly puts things in perspective," mused Dennise Acosta, new WLC Member. "It was really emotional for me." The Women's Leadership Council chose this volunteer effort to personally connect with the homeless men and women who live on our streets.
The eight women also toured the new 12-story St. Vincent de Paul Village complex. Opening on December 8th, it will house a range of services to help end the cycle of homelessness including a child-development center, long-term transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing.

St. Vincent de Paul Village manages the United Way collaborative, Project 25. Funded and facilitated by the United Way, Project 25 provides affordable housing integrated with supportive services to help move - and keep - the chronically homeless off the streets and into stable living and working situations.
