Directors' Notes
BRRRR!! It sure is cold. The Christmas and New Year holidays are now behind us and soon hopefully these cold days will be as well. The snow was definitely beautiful and I know the kids loved playing in it but I am ready for Spring!
Spring is a good time to clean out closets and clean house. As we look towards spring we have few things in the neighborhood to clean as well. The parks will be getting some fresh mulch, the fences a much needed power washing and painting. As the weather gets warmer, take a look around, does your house also need power washing, does your mail box need painting? Lets all work together to keep Arbor Creek looking great in 2011.

We've seen snow several times already this Winter, but Spring is coming and so is our next community yard sale. It has been scheduled for Saturday, April 9, from 7 am until noon.
Participants should place a balloon on their mailboxes. Signs will be posted at three main entrances, and ads will be placed in the Holly Springs Sun, The News and Observer, and on Craig's List. The rain date will be April 16.
SCRAPBOOKING AT ARBOR CREEK

The next crops will be held on February 25 and March 25, from 6:30 pm until midnight. Please RSVP by emailing Amy Darwin or call 303-9452 to reserve your space and find out the crop location. Attendees bring their own drink and a snack to share. Mark your calendars now; we hope to see you soon.

As warm weather will soon greet us, we will have many more walkers on our sidewalks. With that, the HOA board is asking that everyone remember to pick up after yourself and your pets. There are doggie depot stations throughout the neighborhood for your convenience. Also please remember to pick up those soda cans, juice boxes, cigarette butts and other debris lying around. In addition, PLEASE be sure to pick up the Free Newspapers that are delivered each week. These papers being left behind are not only an eyesore, but could also be considered littering, so please do your part to help keep our neighborhood beautiful! |

Community Watch Update &
Crime Awareness |
Now that we are having more cold weather here are a few tips to remain safe and warm.
Home Heating
- Never use an oven as an alternative heat source.
- Fireplaces are also widely used and extra caution should be taken while using them.
- All heaters need space. Keep things that can burn, such as paper, bedding or furniture, at least 3 feet away from heating equipment.
- Use heating equipment that has the label of a recognized testing laboratory.
- Install stationary space heating equipment, water heaters or central heating equipment according to the local codes and manufacturer's instruction. Have a qualified professional install the equipment.
- Make sure all fuel-burning equipment is vented to the outside to avoid carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. CO is created when fuels burn incompletely. CO poisoning can cause illness and even death.
- Make sure the venting for exhaust is kept clear and unobstructed. This includes removal of snow around the outlet to the outside.
- Install and maintain carbon monoxide alarms inside your home to provide early warning of carbon monoxide.
- Maintain heating equipment and chimneys by having them cleaned and inspected annually by a qualified professional.
- Turn space heaters off when you leave a room or go to sleep.
Carbon Monoxide Safety/Detectors
Carbon Monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas that can cause serious illness and death if a leak goes undetected. Carbon Monoxide Detectors are an inexpensive "must have" for your home to ensure the safety of the entire family.
- Install Carbon Monoxide detectors (make sure they are approved by a recognized laboratory) inside your home to provide warning of accumulating Carbon Monoxide. Carbon Monoxide detectors should be installed in a central location outside of each sleeping area
- Test your Carbon Monoxide Detectors and Smoke Alarms at least once a month
- Be sure to replace Carbon Monoxide Detectors based on manufacturer's instructions
- Never use the oven to heat your home
- Carbon Monoxide Detectors are NOT replacements for Smoke Alarms.
- Be sure that the vents for the dryer, furnace, fireplace, and stove are clear of snow build-up after snow storms
- When using your fireplace, open the flue to ensure adequate ventilation
- Be sure to thoroughly clean dryer vents once a year. Clean out the lint filter of your dryer after each use.
