DREAMS CAN BE A REALITY
| Greeks, including Homer, believed that some dreams are reality and that people should act on them. In our modern day, we have leaders and inventors who also believed and acted on their dreams. Elias Howe, inventor of the sewing machine, struggled for years to develop his invention. Then, he had a dream that he was ordered to finish it or pay with his life. That is some real motivation, isn't it? And so he did finish it. A dream is defined as an experience of ideas and images during sleep. St. Patrick also was one who acted on his dream. Patrick was born in England and at the age of just 16 was captured by Irish Raiders and enslaved in Ireland for six difficult years. He finally escaped and went back to England to be with his family. Years later, he had a dream in which the people of of Ireland were calling him to return to their country as a great leader. Why would he ever want to return to Ireland which had been so cruel to him? He certainly could have disregarded his dream as silliness or craziness. However, he chose instead to reflect and, then, act on his dream as his inner guide. He did return to Ireland. There he changed his life and the lives of many. And the rest is history.

EXERCISE | Just as Elias Howe was called to be an inventor, aren't you called to be an inventor of some kind and to reinvent yourself? This week, I invite you to observe and write down any dream that is calling or has called you to personal or professional growth. If you cannot think of a dream, is there something you want to reinvent about yourself?
There is plenty of information on dreams to assist you. If you would like further information, let me know.

IRISH BLESSING May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
May God be with you and bless you;
May you see your children's children.
May you be poor in misfortune,
Rich in blessings,
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.
May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home
And may the hand of a friend always be near.
May green be the grass you walk on,
May blue be the skies above you,
May pure be the joys that surround you,
May true be the hearts that love you.
