POWER OF A CHILD
This is the first of a series on meditation.  I wish to acknolwedge and thank my meditation instructor and good friend, Tom Jacobs.  I also acknowledge Kelly McConigal who wrote "Your Brain on Meditation" in June 2010 Yoga Journal.

Do you struggle with staying focused?  Scientists have long believed that the brain reaches a peak in later life and then begins to decrease.  But recent research has different and exciting findings!  The Department of Neurology at U of Cal. L.A. School of Medicine used an MRI machine and compared the brains of 22 meditators and 22 age-matched nonmeditators.  Every single meditator had more gray matter in the area of the brain that affects focusing attention, regulating emotions, and mental flexibility. Wow!!!

EXERCISE
Here are the 3 steps:
1.  Do you have any negative thoughts about your ability to meditate?  If so, then use your "delete key" from issue 85 "Maintaining Positive Thinking by using your Delete Key."
Click here to view Issue 85.

2.  Create your own quiet place in your home and sit comfortably.

3.  I invite you to spend 5 minutes in silence two days in the next week.  Enjoy the silence and don't judge yourself.
