POWER OF SILENCE
In coaching sessions, a client may ask a question or make a statement to which I am not ready to respond. Of course, there is a tendency to be uncomfortable with silence which could cause me to jump in too quickly. Here is my coaching technique. First, I choose to be silent. Then, two things happen. First, this hopefully leads my client to a self-discovery, which is far more powerful than anything I could say. Or if that doesn't happen, then I have more time to formulate my question.

EXERCISE
I invite you this week to practice this technique at work, at home, or in your organization when someone asks you a question or makes a statement to which you are ready to respond. You may want to partner with someone to practice this technique. The results may be amazing. Please share your results with someone and of course, you can share them with me.
