FORCED CHANGE
We have been dealing with changes in your lives.  This issue is going to focus on change in organizations.

Sometimes we are forced to change - from the top down.  In our professional lives, new procedures, mergers, upsizing, downsizing and different demands can be brought upon us by top management, which force us to change.  Accepting someone else's choice for change can be very challenging.

When top down change occurs, it is more likely to be successful when it happens in a user-friendly manner, allowing employees to make mistakes and time to express their emotions, possible frustrations, and to give their comments.  Employees must know that personal and professional benefits come with this change. The process of moving from the present to your organization's desired change takes many ingredients and much time.

EXERCISE
This week, I invite you to reflect on if management has issued a top-down change to you, list out the benefits to you and reflect.  If you are in management that has issued a top down change, what is one thing you can do this week to make it more user friendly?  Of course, you can always share your reflections with me.
