In the effort to address the issue behind the expensive replacement of metal traffic island signs in Vienna, Austria, Thomas Schaller of Stramark, proposed a solution to Vienna authorities. He introduced the impactable and durable technology of Impact Recovery Systems. Schaller worked with Impact Recovery Systems in order to produce a traffic island sign that would fit the specific needs of Vienna authorities.
