| Photo of the Month |

Do you have a favorite farmland photo of Marin you'd like to share? Send it to us and we'll select one photo to feature monthly. Be sure to include the name of the photographer and the location where it was taken.
This month we're featuring a photo by Deirdre McCrohan taken at the foot of Grandview Avenue in Black Point at the northeast corner of the Sonoma/Marin county line. We love the mixture of habitats, so representative of our county.

Coming soon... An updated look for our 4th decade
MALT's original logo (seen above) effectively symbolizes our focus on farmland preservation and has served us well for 30 years. But as technologies evolve, and as our programs continue to expand, we find the need for a fresher visual image, one that is easily identifiable, web-friendly, and informs people about our work conserving and stewarding farmland.
We are happy to announce that MALT is a 2010 recipient of a "Visual Identity & Brand Strategy Grant" from the Taproot Foundation, an organization that provides pro-bono professional services to nonprofits. We kick off this project next week and with Taproot's expert guidance, look toward to a late June completion date. The Taproot team will be looking for input from people like you, our supporters, so don't be surprised if your feedback is requested during the design process.

Calling all MALT members... We'd like to get to know you better!
We tell you about us all the time, now's your chance to tell us a little something about you! On February 16, we'll be sending out a brief, on-line survey to our members. Please help us out by taking 10 minutes (really, we promise!) to complete it by February 26. Your answers will be kept strictly confidential, but will be used internally to educate staff and inform planning decisions, including those we'll be making as we work on our new brand identity.
Our members are essential to our success. Knowing you better will help us meet our future goals.

Raise a glass for MALT February 16
We are delighted to be the benefactor of an upcoming "Give Back Tuesday" this month at Iron Springs Pub & Brewery in Fairfax. A portion of all food and beverage sales on this evening will be donated to MALT, and proceeds raised will help preserve Marin County farmland. We're looking forward to joining in and raising a delicious handcrafted pint to toast the bounty of our irreplaceable Marin farmland and Iron Springs' generous community spirit.
Can't come to the event, but interested in making a contribution to MALT? Visit our website to make a donation.

With your help, we did it!
Thanks to the support of our
generous donors and friends, we exceeded our year-end fundraising goals
for 2009! We begin this new decade with optimism, ready to meet the
challenging yet exciting opportunities ahead. Right now, we are actively
working to protect four additional family farms, which will save another 3,400
acres from development or subdivision.
We hope you take time this year to
connect to the land that feeds you by attending one of our Hikes & Tours, by
eating local food and, of course, by joining
MALT or renewing your membership for
2010.
Thank you again!
