In Defense of Prccessed Foods
It is fashionable to use the phrase "processed food" as a pejorative term with a concurrent negativity about the role that food scientists play. We should be concerned about the impact this has on our profession, both in our ability to influence consumers and regulators, as well as the impact on recruiting the brightest and the best students for the future. Yet food processing is thousands of years old and virtually everything we eat or drink has been processed in some way. Food science and technology will become increasingly important to feed the world to increase the availability, safety and quality of our food supply in the future, yet the benefits are not recognized by many. What can we do about this dilemma?

Mr. Ruff's presentation will be centered on the topic of the "In Defense of Processed Food" and the fact that virtually everything we eat or drink has been processed in some way. Join Chicago Section IFT members and friends at our 5th annual golf outing and support CSIFT Scholarships! Last year's outing raised over $10,000.00 for scholarships!
Golfing will be followed by a social hour with hors d'oeuvres. The day will conclude with a dinner buffet and awards presentation.
$150.00 per golfer - includes free range balls, lunch, dinner, and prizes.

Hello CSIFT New Professionals!
Your committee has been working hard this summer to make 2012-2013 another great year for fun networking opportunities. 2011-2012 was our most successful year to date, and we hope to carry that momentum into this year!
Per our group members request, we are releasing the schedule of events ASAP. Please make note of the following event dates in your schedules:

We have an exciting mix of events we would like to schedule including: Brewery tours, wine tastings, golf events, trivia night, volunteer opportunities, cooking classes, and of course whirly ball. An announcement will be made as soon as specific events have been assigned to each date.
