The CSIFT Program Committee cordially invites you to join members, friends, students and faculty members for this month's dinner meeting and special student recognition night.
Dinner Meeting Topic: An Entrepreneur's story: Bringing an idea to market
Speakers:
Daphne Mazarakis, Founder and President, Tula Foods, Inc.
Brian Sambor, VP Operations and Technology, Tula Foods, Inc.
Based in Evanston, IL, Tula Foods was founded in 2008 by Daphne Mazarakis, a second generation Greek-American. At Tula Foods, the motto is "When You Know Better, You Eat Better."
Dedicated to smart living and healthy eating, Tula Foods was the 2009 recipient of the Illinois Department of Commerce "Most Innovative New Company Award" and the 2010 "Nielsen/Walgreens Women Owned Business Development Award." In January 2012, Tula Foods launched Better Whey of LifeŽ (BWoL), the first all natural brand of Greek yogurt made with whey protein from grass-fed cows. Hitting regional shelves in Chicago, Denver and San Francisco are six "twist-on-the-familiar" varieties: blackberry pomegranate, strawberry goji berry, raspberry white grape, acai mixed berry, vanilla bean and plain.
Daphne and Brian will share their experiences during their journey of establishing a company with their belief in healthful foods and eating right.

The Hospitality Committee will also be hosting Student Night on
March 12th, inviting students from the University of Illinois, The Illinois Institute of Technology, Purdue University, and Dominican University interested in working in the food science and technology field. Due to resounding positive feedback from the schools we will once again be holding a session on resume writing and a speed networking session.
The resume writing session will be held from 3:00 - 4:00PM and the speed networking will immediately follow the resume writing from 4:00-5:00PM. Students in attendance are encouraged to meet, speak, and interact with some of our section members on a more personal and one on one basis. We will need your help to make this event a success!
You can help a student in 1 and/or 2 of the following ways:
Be a part of the Speed Networking Team: You will be paired with a few students at a time for 5 minute intervals and will answer their questions. We are in need of volunteers from all the segments of the food industry from R & D, Quality Control, Technical Sales, and any other sector you may work with. If you are interested in participating in Speed Networking, please contact John Chambers at 224-523-6367 or at jchambers@dmhingredients.com
Student Meal Sponsor: Purchase a dinner for a student so that he or she does not have to incur this expense. The cost of the student meal is $25.00. If you are interested in sponsoring a student's meal please let the Chicago Section IFT Office know when making your own reservations or indicate it when making your reservation on-line.
