September Meeting Highlights
 | | September Kickoff, Morton Arboretum |
| |
The CSIFT kick-off meeting for the 2011-2012 session started with a bang this year at the Morton Arboretum. We were quite privileged and honored to have Dr. Roger Clemens, IFT president and a distinguished scholar, speak at the kick-off meeting on a topic of universal interest: "Dietary Guidelines - Implications for the food, nutrition and health continuum". Dr. Clemens did a superb job of explaining the basis for the first edition of the Dietary Goals of the United States issued in 1977 to the current state of Dietary Guidelines and its implications on food, nutrition and health continuum. The presentation was quite enlightening and informative. We had over 130 members at the dinner meeting and Dr. Clemens kept all of them fully engaged in the talk in a dimly lit room after a delicious dinner. It was a fantastic event for our members to network and learn about the dietary guidelines from one of the most respected scholars in this field, Dr. Roger Clemens.
