PRESENTATION: Food Recalls and Risk Communication: Challenges and Opportunities
SPEAKER: Dr. Robert Gravani,
Professor of Food Science, Cornell University and President-Elect, IFT
In recent years, the number of food product recalls in the U.S. has increased dramatically. Dr. Bob Gravani, Professor of Food Science at Cornell University and current IFT President, will address the issue of Food Product Recalls and Risk Communication: Challenges and Opportunities. He will share perspectives on the causes of food recalls and consumer understanding of these events, address the causes of several high profile recalls and outline key strategies for effectively communicating risks to the public using the Best Practices of risk communication.
Following Dr. Gravani's presentation, he will host a short IFT Town Hall Meeting. Members are encouraged to think of questions they might like to ask the President Elect about the future of IFT
