It's Time to Pony Up for the Horses! We Need Your Help... United Organizations of the Horse ~ First Annual Leadership Summit
Sunday, June 14, 2009 ~ 1 pm to 3 pm ~ Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel, Washington, DC In less than a year, the United Organizations of the Horse has pulled together a diverse and comprehensive group of horsemen and women to ensure the viability of the equine industry and to ensure the humane care and management of all horses. Momentum garnered by supportive, pro-active horse industry legislation introduced, or being introduced, in at least 17 state legislatures, and successful passage of those bills in eight states, is driving the movement. The United Organizations of the Horse formed to tell the story of a traditional cultural heritage that is in danger of disappearing--along with it a rich, renewable resource being squandered--and to educate an emotionally manipulated public that is being mislead about the consequences. Members are meeting in Washington, D.C. to update the State Horse Councils, associations, organizations, and individuals gathering at the American Horse Council's annual meeting and to present legislation that will support, instead of destroy, Americans' ability to use, manage, and enjoy horses. The proposed Humane and Optimal Restoration and Sustainability of Equines (H.O.R.S.E.) Act is being drafted through the collaboration of stakeholders and influential lawmakers who have already indicated their support. Our mission in Washington, D.C. is to communicate with as many potential sponsors and co-sponsors as possible, and to arm like-minded horse people with the talking points, fact sheets, and information they need to effectively communicate with their congressional delegations.
