Welcome to Bikini Boot Camp News - our way of keeping in touch with you!  It is our goal to keep you informed and up to date on the latest fitness news, tips, trends, recipes, and what is going on with the company.

Fall is upon us and the kids are back in school, but the weather still makes us want to be outside.  Experience the beautiful fall colours, crisp mornings and evening sunsets with us this fall.  What a great way to enjoy the day!

Trainer Profile
Mel Duperreault, CPT CFC - Prince Albert, Saskatchewan Trainer

Our company is where it is today because we have Mel picturefabulous trainers!  Bikini Boot Camp has had the sincere pleasure of having Mel as an irreplaceable part of our family since Spring 2006.  Mel is one of our Bikini Boot Camp 'poster' trainers because she lives the Bikini Boot Camp lifestyle.  You will always find her smiling and adding joy into every life she touches.  Mel exudes unconditional support and infectious optimism which is shown by the success she has created in Prince Albert.

Every 8 weeks, 50 Prince Albert women experience Mel.  Those of you who have had the privilege to have Mel as a trainer know that if you don't register the day her programs open online, you most likely will not get in.  Her participants love her that much!

Besides creating an amazing Bikini Boot Camp experience in Prince Albert here are some of her other roles with us:
  • Mel started our hugely successful lake programs at Emma, Christopher and Candle Lakes!
  • Mel is a Bikini Boot Camp Mentor trainer and shares her "can do" attitude with Edmonton, Red Deer and "the Lakes" trainers.
  • Mel is a Bikini Boot Camp Retreat trainer and has been with us for two of our Mexico Retreats!
Mel, we are trying, but we simply can't thank you enough for all the love you have given our company!  We are forever grateful and are delighted that you have become such an integral part of the Bikini Boot Camp journey.  In Mel's words, "You are 'FRIGGIN' AWESOME"!
Little Ideas to Stay Motivated

We all go through times when we could use a little more "oomph" to get out of bed for the 5:45 workout.  Our trainers are here to help you stay motivated and assist you in reaching your goals, but how can you help yourself?  Below are some actions you can take to stay on course to reach your goals.  We know you can do it!
  • Keep a Journal - Whether old fashioned pen and paper or an electronic record or blog, keeping track of your workouts will show your progress over time and keep yourself accountable.  Try to write a one-line comment after every workout.
  • Star Chart - Go back to the good old days of Kindergarten and buy those glittery star stickers.  Every day you complete your workout, give yourself a star on the calendar.
What to do when you're procrastinating...
  • Do it for just 5 minutes - Get on your gear, lace up your shoes and tell yourself you'll commit to the first 5 minutes and you can stop after that if you choose.  Rarely will you want to stop once you get going.  Yes this is a little like tricking yourself...but it works!

New Fall Programs Launch

Drop In Workouts (Calgary, Saskatoon and Regina)
We hear you!  For years you have been asking for drop in workout, and here they are!  Is committing to an 8 Week Program your limiting factor?  Experience our drop in workouts.  Designed for those of us with unpredictable lives; workout on your terms, at your time!

Stroller Program (Calgary)
We have enjoyed having so many of you join us for our post-natal programs!  Watching you both through the first year is a great gift.  Our post-natal program welcomes children between 6 weeks - 1 year, but what about those children older than 1 year, or those who have older siblings?

Bikini Boot Camp introduces the Stroller Program!  A program that allows moms to get in their kick-butt workout with the kids!  Our workouts are designed around strollers so all age ranges are welcome to attend.  All you need is a stroller that will sit the appropriate amount of children.

**Workouts will last 60 minutes.  It is highly recommended that you practice taking your children out in the stroller for 60 minutes prior to the program start so that they get used to spending this amount of time in the stroller.

Bikini Boot Camp Events

bridge city boogie 2009Thanks to all of you who volunteered for the Bikini Boot Camp water station at the Bridge City Boogie (Saskatoon).




The Lake workouts were a huge success!  Workingcandle lake workout 1 out on the beach is one of our favourite things to do.  Thanks to all of you who joined us this summer in Emma, Christopher and Candle Lakes, and Kelowna, BC.



Lululemon Workouts
Toronto trainers ran a series of successful in-store promotions and outdoor workouts with Lululemon in June.  The response was tremendous and they have plans again for the fall!  Great job!

Calgary followed suit and ran multiple in-store promotions and outdoor workouts in August!

Nike Women's Run
Training runs have been going strong with Sheena leading the way in Calgary.  This event is on October 18, 2009 in San Francisco!  Over 30 participants and trainers will be taking part from across Alberta and Saskatchewan.

July 2009 - Saskatchewan Tour
nelda donkey kicks july 09Lindsay and Dawn spent a week traveling through Saskatchewan attending workouts and meeting with the trainers and participants.  We have been blown away by all of the trainers in Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert and the Lakes.  The strength of the programs reflects the strong sense of community that has been created and trainer enthusiasm which is infectious.  Awesome work ladies!

Run for the Cure
Bikini Boot Camp is leading groups for the Run for the Cure on October 4, 2009 in various cities, including Saskatoon, Regina and Calgary.  For more details about the run in your city, contact info@bikinibootcamp.ca.

Outer Limits Run
Mel is leading a fabulous group of ladies in the Outer Limits Run in Prince Albert on September 19, 2009.  For more details, please email Mel, mel@bikinibootcamp.ca.

Retreats
emerald lake lodgeBikini Boot Camp and Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts will be running a mountain escape at Emerald Lake Lodge, Emerald Lake, British Columbia from October 23 - 25, 2009.  More details are available on the website!  If you are fans of the Bachelorette, you will know that this was one of the spots she visited on the show!

Quick Breakfast Fruit Pita
Quick Breakfast Fruit Pita
Recipe

Need some breakfast time inspiration?  Try this tasty recipe!

Preparation time:  5 minutes

1/2 banana, crushed
1 tbsp (15ml) flax seeds, ground or whole
1 tsp (5ml) pumpkin seeds
1 6" (15cm) pita
1 strawberry, hulled and thinly sliced

In a small bowl, combine banana, flaxseed and pumpkin seeds.
Toast pita and cut open.  Stuff with banana mixture and place slices of strawberry on top.  Eat while still warm from the toaster.
