EDC was again pleased to partner with McHenry County, the McHenry County Workforce Network, McHenry County Workforce Board, and MCC for a workforce F.A.S.T. (Flexible and Sustainable Training) program.  F.A.S.T. will provide employer-identified, short-term occupational training needs in the specific fields of Basic Manufacturing, Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) Machining and Bilingual Nurse Assistance (BNA). More

As part of our EDC mission to work collaboratively with our municipalities to provide strategic information, the first in the 2010 series of EDC Roundtables was held on February 18, 2010.  Representatives from the Village of Algonquin, Village of Huntley, City of Marengo and City of McHenry, as well as other interested business leaders were on hand to hear from Bill Kornit of SomerCor 504 on opportunities for financial assistance.  Bola DeLano of the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) discussed financial programs to assist in brownfield identification and remediation and a new mapping program which will be initiated this year.  The next Roundtable will be in late spring with details and information to follow.

March 3rd and 4th, President Pam Cumpata and Chairman & Vice Chairman of the EDC Transportation & Infrastructure Committee will be traveling with the County Representatives to Washington DC to discuss local projects and issues facing our economy.   
EDC would be pleased to bring forward or emphasize any special topic or issue,  please let us know.  We are scheduling meetings with Senator's Durbin and Burris, Congressman Manzullo, Congresswoman Bean, Congressman Kirk, and Congressman Foster and will drop by other representative's offices as requested.

The EDC Legislative and Government Affairs committee held their 2010 strategic meeting this morning (February 4, 2010).   In this critical election year, we feel it is important to provide a series of opportunities for business/industry (those that are primary employers in the county) to meet and discuss topics with candidates.  Initial plans for the Legislative series include: US Senate Candidates, Governor candidates, US Congressional Candidates, a County Board Informational Session and our Annual Legislative Breakfast.  Details will be forthcoming.
