News You Can Use
November 2009
Connie HodgesIn this season of thanks, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to those companies and organizations that have conducted and are conducting workplace campaigns.  Together, with your generosity and the collective efforts of our donors, volunteers, businesses, and community and agency partners, we are addressing immediate needs and investing in long-term solutions that will lead to a better tomorrow for our children, youth, and families.  At this time of year, United Way is also calling on individuals, who may wish to make a gift, to participate in our upcoming Give 5 Campaign described below. Thanks to the generosity of Delores Barr and J. Wayne Weaver, individuals' gifts may be doubled. What a wonderful way to make a big impact! I encourage you to read about Give 5, upcoming events, and the latest news of how our supporters are making a difference.

Sincerely,
Connie Hodges
President

Give 5
To Make A Difference
GIVE 5Did you know that nearly one in three First Coast adults is below the age of 40? To reach a broader audience, especially younger workers in their 20s to 30s, United Way is once again offering its Give 5 Campaign as a means for younger adults to connect with United Way through Facebook and Twitter. United Way is pleased to announce that Delores Barr and J. Wayne Weaver have stepped forward with a $2-for- $1 challenge match of up to $30,000 to double the impact of individual donors' gifts.

Give 5 will encourage persons to make a gift of at least $5 to help improve the lives of First Coast children, youth, and families. Each Give 5 donor will be asked to invite 5 friends to also participate in the campaign. Give 5 will reward a special, customized icon to be posted on the donor's social network profiles. With the recruitment of 5, 10, 15 friends, and so on, individuals will receive new updated icons.  Spread the word.

Expect more Give 5 details later this month.
