Achievers For Life Earns National Honor |
United Way of Northeast Florida received top honors at the national United Way of America Staff Leaders Conference in Detroit, Michigan on May 12, for its dropout prevention initiative, Achievers For Life (AFL). Achievers For Life was one of only three programs nationwide selected out of hundreds of entries submitted from United Ways across the country. read more

United Way Prioritizes Needs |
 United Way of Northeast Florida's Board of Trustees announced on June 25 that it will prioritize funding for programs that support family financial stability by providing basic needs. In deciding where dollars raised in the 2008 campaign will be invested, United Way leaders determined that the need for food, shelter, and related assistance was critical to keep families whole and children safe. read more

| WILL Volunteers Clean Up for Spring |
On Saturday, May 30, United Way's Women in Local Leadership (WILL) gathered more than forty members and their families to take part in a volunteer day at three of United Way's Success By 6 early education centers. Centers included St. Catherine's Episcopal Preschool, Methodist Children's Village and Happy Acres Ranch.

One Month, One Mission

During the month of May, CIT employees volunteered throughout Northeast Florida, sharing their time and talents with First Coast families, as part of the company's Global Employee Volunteer Month effort. Joining forces with its agency partners, United Way customized unique volunteer opportunities for approximately 70 CIT employees.

| Jacksonville Mayor Recognizes United Way Volunteers |
 Since 1996, the Jacksonville-Duval County Council on Elder Affairs (COEA) has collaborated with the City of Jacksonville's Mayor's Office to recognize senior citizens and their contributions to the community through volunteerism. This year, the Mayor's Senior Citizen Award winners were presented to the following individuals: Male Senior Citizen of the Year, Charlie Adcock; Female Senior Citizen of the Year, Joy Martin; and Lifetime Achievement Award, John Thomas. Award recipients John Thomas and Charlie Adcock are both long-term United Way volunteers. read more |

United Way Staff Updates United Way announces a promotion and welcomes a new staff member to the Community Impact Team.
 Jeff Winkler will lead United Way's Real$ense Prosperity Campaign as its Director effective July 1. He served as Assistant Director for four years.  Shelley Grant joined the United Way team as the Director of Full Service Schools. She worked with the State Attorney's Office for fifteen years, supervising case management and prevention services. | |

Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the following locations in Northeast Florida:
· Orange Park Mall · The Avenues · St. Johns Town Center · St. Augustine Premium
Outlets
In addition, food items can be dropped off at I-95 Toyota in Brunswick, Georgia.
