GIVE 5 and Be A Part Of The Change.
Read how young professionals spread the word about GIVE 5 and made their mark at Art Walk in the story below.

Connie Hodges
Dear United Way Friend,

We've all seen firsthand how tough economic times are affecting our friends, family, co-workers, and even our neighbors.

Yet even in difficult times, people continue to reach out to care for one another.  Against this backdrop, we're making the case to the community, especially to our younger generation, that we CAN make a difference. That's what it means to LIVE UNITED. I encourage you to visit www.give5live.org and pay it forward, by passing it to five others. Together, we can inspire hope and create opportunities for a better tomorrow.

With regards,
Connie Hodges
President

Making a Mark at Art Walk!

Sign the GIVE 5 Pig at Art WalkUnited Way's young professional group, Atlantic Circle, helped spread the GIVE 5 message in downtown Jacksonville at Art Walk on March 4. Individuals who donated $5 through www.give5live.org were invited to sign the GIVE 5 pig, and show their support in investing in the lives of children and families on the First Coast.

United Way's GIVE 5 intiative is an internet-based, Sign the GIVE 5 Pig at Art Walkviral campaign targeted to young professionals. With this online strategy, United Way is appealing to young people who may not work in traditional workplace campaign settings. Through social networks, like Facebook and Twitter, United Way seeks to connect with younger generations. Through an online YouTube video, individuals are encouraged to give $5, and pass the message to five of their friends.

Team-Building While You Volunteer?

Nationwide employees spend the afternoon stocking shelves and packing food boxes at Second Harvest Food Bank in Jacksonville.
That's right!

United Way of Northeast Florida offers a unique service which allows companies to build their teams while also impacting critical community issues.

What's your company's community interest?  Are you interested in assisting homeless mothers in becoming more financially independent? Or perhaps providing support to school-age students to help improve their learning environment?  These are just two examples of the many opportunities that are avaliable to your employee group.

United Way will help you find the perfect team-building opportunity by customizing a volunteer event that's just right for your group.

In addition to community impact, research shows that more companies find volunteer programs just as valuable to their business as their industry focus.  According to the February 20 edition of the Jacksonville Business Journal, 61 percent of polled executives believed employee volunteer programs also provide "tangible contributions to their companies' bottom line."

United Way will assist your company in developing your volunteer program providing:

· Convenience: A senior staff member to schedule and organize your volunteer day
· Flexibility: A variety of community service offerings (through United Way partner agencies and programs) from which to choose
· Accountability: The opportunity to track the success and impact of the volunteer event

For more information on this service, please contact Coretta Hill at corettah@uwnefl.org or 390-3231.
