Hi Everyone!

In advance of the June newsletter (which should be going out next week), I wanted to let you know of two great events that are coming up.

Brooklyn Food Coalition School Food Training Fair: Saturday June 5th!
Come join an informal training fair where you will meet other parents, educators, and facilitators who are working on fixing school food and improving the health of Brooklyn's kids.
Together we will learn:
How to make positive change and promote wellness in your school
How to start a Wellness Council and move an agenda forward
How to engage in Partnership Meetings
Where the red tape is and how to cut through it
What programs and resources exist for your school

Children are welcome! We will provide supervision and healthy snacks. It will be in Ft. Greene Park Playground on Myrtle Avenue and St. Edwards Street from 2-4pm. Please send this around to all the school food activists you know and encourage them to come to this event. This is a training for School Food activists or people who want to consider being school food activists.

Free Outdoor Youth Summit in Central Park June 19th & 20th! Apply by Monday, May 31!
This event will unite young people from across the country with a common mission: to champion the outdoors and start a youth-driven movement. This next American Revolution will harness the passion, energy and ideas of a new generation that is eager to influence the future and stand up for change.

During this two-day summit in Central Park, young leaders ages 18-30 (younger applicants may apply if attending with a chaperone) will develop a national agenda, set priorities and outline strategies to champion the outdoors as athletes, artists, advocates and ambassadors. Summit delegates will discuss key topics related to outdoor issues such as health, diversity, careers, service, recreation, education, media and culture and learn of opportunities for employment and action.
To participate in the Summit Apply here by May 31st. For more information, visit Outdoor Nation.
Have a great holiday weekend!
