Greetings!

We're celebrating at Oxbow Public Market with a big Carnaval! party on Sunday, March 14. It's our second anniversary and we hope you'll join us for some fun. We're hoping for some warmer weather so we can sit out on the deck overlooking the Napa River.
We also want to remind you that automobile access to the Market remains fully openduring the Flood Control Railroad Relocation Project beginning on March 15. A new stoplight is being installed on Soscol at McKinstry to allow for easy left-hand turns onto Soscol, and pedestrian access from both downtown and Alta Heights won't be effected at all. Thanks for putting up with the ongoing construction. It will be completed soon, and we'll all have a safer, "drier" downtown Napa.

See you at the Market!

NEW OWNERSHIP: OXBOW PRODUCE AND GROCERY

A warm welcome to the new owners at Oxbow Produce and Grocery: Lee Hudson, proprietor of the esteemed Hudson Ranch in the Carneros region of Napa, and Andru Moshe, the current operating manager.

Hudson has developed Hudson Ranch into a world-class farm and vineyard operation, and will grow fruits and vegetables for Oxbow Produce. The Ranch will also supply fresh ingredients for CSA (Community Supported Agricultural) boxes to customers of Oxbow Produce and Grocery. Moshe has a substantial background in the organic produce industry and in supporting local farmers and has managed the existing operation since its inception.

The Farm Direct program sources its fruits and vegetables directly from the farmer, ensuring the highest level of quality, seasonality and freshness. Oxbow Produce focuses on hand-selecting traditional heirloom fruits and vegetables, hard-to-find and unusual varieties, and locally crafted artisan products. Oxbow Produce will also offer a wholesale program to chefs, supplying Northern California's wineries and fine dining rooms.

FIVE DOT RANCH: BEEF BRISKET FOR DINNER

Pick up fresh beef brisket at Five Dot Ranch for just $5.99/lb. on March 17 and try this delicious slow-braised recipe:

Fresh Beef Brisket
3 lbs beef brisket
1 cup ketchup
1 sm onion chop
2 Tbls cider vinegar
1 Tbls horseradish
1 Tbls mustard
1 Tsp sugar
1/2 Tsp pepper

Place the brisket in a 3-qt. slow cooker.  In a bowl, combine the remaining ingredients. Pour over brisket. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours. Remove the beef; set aside. Pour the sauce into a pan; cook, uncovered, over low heat for 13-15 minutes or until reduced and thickened, stirring occasionally.  Slice the meat across the grain; serve with sauce.

KANALOA SEAFOOD: SEASONAL SPRING SPECIALS

As the saying goes "No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow." And nowhere is that more true than at Kanaloa Seafood. March marks the opening of the wild Alaskan Halibut season, and Kanaloa works with first receivers to ensure you get the freshest product as soon as it hits the market. Also making their seasonal debut are Spot Prawns, fresh from the waters off Santa Barbara, and with the flagship store based there, you can be sure to have a consistent supply of this delicious treat. They come whole, and make for a wonderful presentation, not to mention an amazing amount of flavor, and are perfect as an appetizer or main course.

Stay "pinch proof" this St. Patrick's Day by going green with Kanaloa's organic Irish Salmon. It's a healthy alternative to the corned beef and cabbage, and comes straight from the waters off the Emerald Isle. One bite and you'll feel you've been blessed by the luck o' the Irish. Or make a holiday-themed meal with Green Lip Mussels steamed in Guinness.

Finally, spring brings a special treat in the form of Shad Roe, a rare delicacy that you'll be hard pressed to find anywhere other than Kanaloa Seafood. So get those pre-orders in early so you don't miss out on this very limited offering.
