From the Editor's Desk...

For our U.S. readers, the Thanksgiving holiday is just around the corner.  I'm sure many of you are in the midst of food and/or travel preparations!

As always, I like to make sure my children understand the history and significance of upcoming holidays.  Below you will find links to some resources we're using to learn about the U.S. Thanksgiving celebration and similar events around the world.

The First Thanksgiving - an excellent interactive site offering a voyage on the Mayflower, information about the first feast and a comparison of the Pligrims and Native American lifestyles.

The Origins of the Thanksgiving Holiday (video) Learn about the history of Thanksgiving.

Macy's Day Float (video) Information about building floats for the Macy's Day Parade, now in its 80th year!

Celebration of Thanksgiving Around the World - learn about Thanksgiving and harvest festivals in ancient times and find out about similar modern celebrations around the world.

I wish you all a warm and happy Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

Jennifer K. Gray
