iMetabolic Meal Replacement is Back
and Better than Ever

Dr. kent Sasse; Founder and Medical Director for iMetabolic

Western Bariatric Institute's Medical Director Dr. Kent Sasse is also the Founder and Medical Director for iMetabolic.  iMetabolic meal replacement has been unavailable for a short time, but for good reason. It  has been undergoing some reformulation by the company.  And now the protein powder is back and better than ever. The new iMetabolic has a new look and a new blend. It is gluten free, lactose free, soy free and uses all natural sweeteners. The mix of high-quality whey protein, essential vitamins and fiber gives the consumers a low-calorie, highly satisfying alternative to the dietary pitfalls that derail weight loss. Dr. Kent Sasse has refined the formula through use with patients preparing for bariatric surgery. He has seen dramatic results - weight loss of over 30 to 40 pounds - as the meal satiates hunger, but cuts carbohydrates and sugars from the diet.

"We started with our patients in the surgical weight loss center and we wanted something that could help those patients lose weight reliably, because it makes the surgery so much safer, "said Dr. Sasse.  "Through continuous feedback from our patients we have been able to dial in what I think is the best protein shake meal available out there."

Brooke Tom~Lap-Band Surgery~Lost 162 lbs

Brooke Patient Spotlight

Ever since I can remember I have been very obese. With my mom at 5'4" and 315 pounds and my dad at 6'2" and 350 pounds, there was a very good chance of me suffering from obesity. When I was in 6th grade I was 5' 7" and weighed 180 pounds! Life was difficult for me being the biggest girl in the school. I was the target of all my schoolmates' cruel jokes and they constantly teased me. In the lunch room people would make cow and pig noises at me while I was eating, so I would hide in the bathroom and eat my lunch in the bathroom stall. Being alone and avoiding everyone was the easiest way for me to maintain my cool and get through the day.

I had no confidence and no self esteem. I made the best of my life, living one day at a time.

My physical activities were always very limited. It would take me 14 minutes to run the mile when everyone else was doing it in 10 minutes or less. My lower back was always hurting, I could barely breathe and my feet felt as if they were going to fall off.

Realizing that hiding from the world wasn't helping my life I changed my attitude and became friends with a lot more people. But those people still continued to call me names like "shamuu" and much worse.

When I graduated high school in 2007 I met my dream guy.  He was everything I wanted and more and accepted me for who I was even though I was 18 years old and 270 pounds. More

Tip and Goal of the Month
By Kristine Shoenberger, MS, RD

Tip of the Month:

Make a good list of non-food rewards for yourself.

It's important to reward yourself for all the hard work you do to eat healthy and exercise regularly. Say you made a goal to get to the gym 5 times a week every week in January and you did it- now reward yourself! Perhaps a massage would be a good reward, or maybe having your spouse or children clean the kitchen after dinner nightly for a week would feel rewarding.

Goal for  the Month:

Don't eat ANY Valentine's Day candy this month- then reward yourself with a bouquet of flowers or something else from your reward list.

Winter holiday treats aren't yet in the distant past, and Valentine's Day candy isn't the "good stuff" anyways. Just skip it completely but reward yourself for your good choices!
