Belgard Hardscapes Added New Dimension to Kitchen of the Year

As the doors close on the annual House Beautiful "Kitchen of the Year," showcased in New York City's Rockefeller Plaza from July through September, participants attribute much of this year's success to the first-ever outdoor components: an outdoor kitchen, dining, and living room provided by Belgard Hardscapes.

 

"Working with Belgard, Chef Tyler Florence and his designer Lori Yeomans took the idea of stylish outdoor living and entertaining to new heights. The stone kitchen with its wood burning brick oven and outdoor fireplace, set among nearly 2,000 sq. feet of patios and planters, were among the most talked about elements. This is the outdoor space people around the country dream of, and now they know how to achieve it with Belgard's wonderful selections," said Kate Kelly Smith, Senior Vice President and Publisher, House Beautiful.

The outdoor dining room constructed in the center of New York City's Rockefeller Plaza for the House Beautiful "Kitchen of the Year" included a paver patio of Belgard Mega Lafitt pavers and was surrounded by a Monroe Guardsman wrought iron fence from Merchants Metals and Bristol Pillars from the Belgard Elements Collection.

The House Beautiful "Kitchen of the Year" outdoor living room was a favorite gathering place for visitors and included a wrap-around Mega Lafitt paver patio and a gas-burning Bristol Fireplace and matching wood box from the Belgard Elements Collection.

Outdoor Kitchen in Action

 

Throughout the premier week in July, the outdoor kitchen was used for cooking demonstrations and sampling. Afterwards, the showcase kitchen re-opened as "Bar 30," serving cocktails and snacks to visitors through the end of September. The entire Kitchen of the Year project is now being recycled, with the majority of reusable appliances and materials going to Habitat for Humanity.
