Tricks So Treats Don't Haunt You All Year
Halloween CandyThis month brings more treats than tricks and with the treats everywhere it takes a trick to keep from turning into a pumpkin.

Yet who wants to be the neighborhood spoilsport who hands out almonds or pencils? No one, but oodles of candy bars lurking around the house is a scary prospect for all family members.

Try these tricks to keep the treats away.
  • Wait until the last minute to buy candy (as a bonus it may be on sale).
  • Avoid buying treats you can't resist (seriously, who can eat just one Peanut Butter cup).
  • Tootsie Pops (60 calories) and 3 Musketeer Fun Size bars (63 calories) are good bets.
  • Get rid of leftovers so they don't haunt you the rest of the year.
Boot BleachersCamp For Bleachers
Wake up early Saturday morning, October 17, and head out to the Shorewood High School Athletic Field for a great workout and cause!

Join us for a special community boot camp to raise funds for new bleachers. With a donation of $15 (or more, if you choose), you can join the hour-long fitness boot camp.

Participants should arrive early by 7:45 am to register and be ready to start at 8 a.m. All are welcome - especially families (children must be age 13 or older to participate with the adult camp). Feel free to also bring your "athletes in training," (ages 7 to 11); we will have fun things for them to do. And each "kid boot camper" gets a free MABC t-shirt to wear with pride!

Thank you in advance to all those who have helped make the MABC and the D2D partnership such a success. For the community, by the community!

Our boot campers use the same "HILL" each week during our outdoor boot camps. Guess we are also training like Division 1 basketball players. Way to go campers!
Are YOU Ready for the Transformation?
Did you know that confidence does NOT come from a big boisterous voice that runs on and on, filling an entire room? Instead of being about dramatics, confidence is about being certain about your intentions - make a stand for what you believe in and commit to those intentions calmly and purposefully.

I have been blessed to find my purpose...what is yours? If it is to finally get and stay fit and healthy, then why not let us help? ... MORE
Transform, Re-energize and Renew Your Spirit
This is your chance to start anew! Get away for the weekend.

Join us for Camp Trillium Fall into Fitness Retreat, this weekend October 16 - 18.

Milwaukee Boot Camp

Hi !

We are excited to have been chosen as 2009's best workout by Milwaukee Magazine.  An organization is only as good as the people that are part of it and we have the best boot campers - YOU! You are the heart of our program and what keeps us motivated to continually strive to do our best.

In this issue you will find a new section called "Cool Camper Contributions". These are cool things that YOU, our campers, have recommended.  We are also pleased to announce two campers that are taking their fitness goals to the next level by becoming coaches. And you will not want to miss our Boot Camp for Bleachers event on Saturday.

Enjoy! Coach Catherine and the Boot Camp Team
Familiar Faces Wearing New Hats
If you are a return camper or a regular reader of our newsletters, you will probably recognize Joanna Marker and Jennifer Banholzer's faces. Both have been regular participants in camps and programs.  Now they are in the process of transitioning to new roles within Milwaukee Adventure Boot Camp (MABC).

Meet Joanna Marker

JoannaAdd up a year of "camper" experience, her first hand success at changing her lifestyle (2009 SLAM BAM Contest Winner), and her experience as a Certified Master Business Coach, and you have all the ingredients for a great MABC coach.

"I want to be an instructor to help people as I have been helped. I truly learned what it means to be a coach and how a life can be completely changed by involvement from someone who cares."

Meet Jennifer BanholzJen
Jen was a great find for MABC. Not only is she a certified personal trainer and certified nutrition specialist, she also has years of office management experience. If you don't know Jen yet, you soon will, as she will be coaching camps and running the office.

"MABC is so much more than just a "workout".  It is about building relationships, believing in yourself, working hard and empowering each other to reach goals!! I can't wait to begin the journey with all of you amazing women!"

TURNING POINT

I won entry into the contest.

BEST BITE
Trade protein and vegetables for carbs at each meal.

SWEAT SESSION
Always try something new each time I work out.

MY TOP TIP
I knew that no matter how hard it got, I felt so much better after!

Milwaukee Boot Camp

TURNING POINT
Read your web site, just lost my job, and loved the challenge.

BEST BITE
Eating plain almonds- 14 to be exact, in a serving and my hunger is satisfied.

SWEAT SESSION

I try to maintain physical activity 5 days of week- running if not boot camp.  The Best tip I would recommend is a great night sleep prior to "bustin' the meat" the following morning.
MY TOP TIP
All of the nutritional knowledge given during contest plus the continual group support/leadership of learning how to conquer the weight loss as a lifestyle. Milwaukee Boot Camp

TURNING POINT
I wanted to lose my weight gain from two pregnancies before I turned 40.

BEST BITE
I didn't eat enough protein...now I try to make sure I get at least two protein servings of 20 grams each every day.

SWEAT SESSION
My biggest workout tip is to just go. I know I will work hard if I show up.

MY TOP TIP
It is never too late to learn something new that might help me turn things around.
Campers Will Soon Haunt the Indoors

Milwaukee Adventure Boot CampHave you ever remodeled your home, or maybe a kitchen or bathroom?  Yeah, then you know what I mean when I say things never go as planned or promised. That being said, we feel fortunate to have only missed our indoor boot camp facility "planned" opening by one month. Not too bad for an 8000 square foot build out. We have been enjoying our autumnal 35-50 degree 5:30 am mornings in the MABC parking lot, our 45-55 degree 8:45 am boot camps at Atwater (love those steps) and our dark and 48 degree evening camps at Klode. Outdoor boot camps are our pride and joy, but we just could not go another winter saying good bye to our loyal and energetic boot campers.

We are STILL so pleased that camps will soon be held indoors (yes, November is our NEW open month).

In the mean time, take a few moments to enjoy the "before" pictures of your new MABC indoor facility. What is that saying..."anything worth having is worth waiting for"...the waiting is almost over campers!

Stay tuned for more updates soon! Coach C
