The Magic of Hidden Cauliflower Puree
|
If you haven't picked up Jessica Seinfeld's cookbook, Deceptively Delicious,
I high ly recommend it. A lot of the recipes have been tested by
campers and so far we have yet to hit a dud. Each recipe incorporates
a vegetable puree, which instantly ramps up the food's nutritional
value yet your family won't even know it is there.

Teaching Teenagers About Healthy Eating
|
Many of us who are the parents of teenagers today grew up in the 70s
and 80s when junk food was in, a burger and fries were considered meat
and potatoes, and the only people who ate healthy food were labeled as
health nuts or hippies. Some of us actually ate a balanced lunch at
school each day, either bringing food from home or buying the school
lunch. But many others succumbed to the candy bar machines, potato and
corn chips, and of cou rse, cans of soda.

Do You Have Emotional Hunger?
|
Do either of these phrases sound or feel familiar: "But I'm just not
hungry!"
"I have a ravenous appetite that I can never fill."
For
those experiencing an eating disorder, these thoughts and feelings seem
to dictate your life. Some never feel hungry, literally, no matter how
little they eat. Some never feel satisfied, no matter how much they
eat.

Your Milwaukee Adventure Boot Camp Success Plan
|
Our boot camp coaches weigh in on four step you can use to slim down and get fit.
Step 1...Bare it.
Stepping on the scale, even shirtless, can make you face how far off
track you have fallen. Strip down and get on the scale once a week.
Remember, during boot camp you can swell so your biggest weight loss
will be 3-4 days after the last day of camp.

WOW , Can you
believe that summer is almost gone? I guess it seems a little anticlimactic
given the weird weather we had June through August. Either way, we were so
pleased to have had such awesome participation in boot camp during our
"busy" season and glad to see so many Milwaukeans taking their fitness health to
heart!
Heading into autumn, a fantastic time of year to keep your workouts going
strong; remember to be thinking about your exercise regimen during the cooler months. You could
always buy those neat, spiked running shoes and venture out into the icy unknown
OR plan to continue your boot camp
training indoors. We have indoor options at all of our locations so no
need to worry. And remember; your coaches are always here to help with your
nutrition questions.
Enjoy this Indian Summer we have now and keep pushing
toward YOUR fitness goals - we are here to guide you!

 TURNING POINT After participating in
my first 3-week camp, I realized that I had found the exercise program that was
going to work for me long term.
At the same time, I
needed intensive nutrition support to actually lose the weight that I wanted to
and was confidant that MABC and Coach Catherine would be able to provide this
guidance to me.
BEST BITE
I still try to eat 5-6
times per day. I have come to love the egg-white and spinach omelet in the
morning and still have a protein drink mid-afternoon to hold me over until
dinner.
SWEAT SESSION
When I'm not in boot
camp I walk my dog with 100 steps walking, 100 steps jogging and 100 steps
sprinting. I run up any flight of stairs that I
can!
MY TOP TIP
The group support meetings provided sustained motivation, healthy
competition and the accountability that was crucial to staying with the
program. My fellow boot camp
participants who were not in the program were very, very encouraging
too. Thank you ladies!
*** TURNING POINTIt was a last
minute, late night decision that I needed the challenge, the committment and the
support.
BEST BITE
Egg whites rock -- for breakfast, in protein shakes and a bedtime
snack.
SWEAT SESSION
Don't let an
injury get in your way. Find out what you can do and focus on that - it may not
be as intense or varied, but it'll keep you sane and at least somewhat in
shape.
MY TOP TIP
Perseverance and committment, throughout
the ups and downs, and with life's little "twists".
*** TURNING POINT My desire to see what was possible and to show myself I could
accomplish anything once I set my mind to it.
BEST BITE
Eating protein with every meal.
SWEAT SESSION
I prefer to work out at night, and have a full gym at home ...
so, I find it convenient to work out later in the evening. When pressed for
time, I multi-task ... climb on my Nordic Track while catching up on phone
calls - keeps me moving at a good pace for 60-90 minutes.
MY TOP TIP
The support and encouragement I received from the other women in
both the SLAM BAM Challenge and in boot camp.
