Dear Members and Friends, |
| HAPPY NEW YEAR
Thank you for your membership, for giving gift memberships, and for all your end of year support for the Society in 2007.
Winter is the ideal time for renewal, growth, and change. Begin a winter garden with wildflower seeds, sign up to be a volunteer or guide, or attend a class or lecture.
Here at Society headquarters at Garden in the Woods we celebrate Scott LaFleur's new role as Director of Horticulture, the appointment of Jack Curtis as the Society's new Publications Director, and James Marzilli's election as Chairman of the Board. Congratulations! |

SEED SALES START TODAY FOR MEMBERS
The Wildflower Seed sale begins TODAY through January 17 for Society members. Seed sales open to the public January 18 - March 15, while supplies last. As a major element to ecological landscape practice, bringing native plants into our gardens is one of the most enjoyable ways to make greener choices. Begin a winter garden project with your member's priority wildflower seed order period benefit. To view the seed catalog online, click here.
Members receive 50% off the price of all seeds.
Writing about propagating native plants from seed, New England Wild Flower Society's Horticultural Research Director William Cullina observed, "There is something vaguely parental about plant propagation that connects you with the plant far more profoundly than purchasing a blooming specimen at the nursery." See some of Bill's favorites and helpful tips for success, here.

CELEBRATE THE EARTH - BECOME A VOLUNTEER
Celebrate the earth and help protect native plants and the environment with participation in the Society's conservation and horticulture volunteer opportunities across the region.
Conservation Volunteers Across the Region
January is the ideal time to apply to become a conservation volunteer. Training takes place in every New Englandstate, and projects are local to where you live. We especially need help in the areas outside Eastern Massachusetts. We provide expert training on native plants for those who make a commitment to the project. Contact John Burns at jburns@newenglandwild.org. You and we will be glad you did!
Greater Boston Volunteers
Become part of the Society's first participation in Going Green Expos on February 2 and 3at the Bayside Center in Boston. To sign up, contact Scott LaFleur at slafleur@newenglandwild.org. Learn more about visiting the show at www.goinggreenexpos.com. We also invite you to sign up as a volunteer for the New England Grows show February 6 - 8. Contact Bonnie Drexler at bdrexler@newfs.org for information.
Garden in the Woods Volunteers
