Greetings!

When I arrived in Atlanta last Thursday for the AWSA & ICRS conferences, I walked with a lift in my step. Could it be because of my experience during and after the flight? You be the judge.

With my two large bags checked on and out of the way, I proceeded to the airport security screening area. The line was delightfully thin for a midweek flight, no argues here. I placed shoes (slip on's of course) jacket, purse, quart bag of liquids, my ID and ticket in one grey bin and my laptop in another. Being careful to securely snap the handle of my carry on bag, to prevent it from snagging on the conveyor belt, I placed it handle first on the counter followed by the two bins.  I moved in the direction of the "scanning arch" only to be gently side-swiped by a giggling bundle of blonde curls eagerly anticipating her first airplane ride... innocent joy!

After boarding the plane I snuggled into my assigned window seat and began thumbing through "Mine Is the Night" by Liz Curtis Higgs. Anticipating a 90 minute window of relaxation, can you imagine my excitement when a four year old flying veteran named Aiden took the seat next to me. His father had provided everything needed to keep this exuberant young man content for at least a three hour flight, including an iPad 2 loaded with games. But Aiden had his eyes set on loftier sights... specifically the window to my left.  Without hesitation he began his assent; he used my readily available arm as leverage to mount a full body assault toward his destination, resulting in his head resting angelically on my chest. all the while, his eyes roamed the heavens taking in everything as if was for the very first time... exuberant joy!

I energetically accepted Aiden's hug offering as payment for our seat sharing and nearly cried when he turned his head to blow me a kiss as his dad whisked him off in a stroller bound for their next flight... reflective joy!

With suitcases in hand I emerged at the airport curb in search of my ride to the hotel... "I'm your ride, hop on in I'll take care of your bags, no problem!" Joe's smile and confident attitude set my soul at peace.

"Where you headed?" Joe looked at my reflection in the rear view mirror.

"The Omni at the CNN Building."

"Ten to fifteen minutes tops. Welcome to Atlanta!" He eased carefully into traffic and we were on our way... thoughtful joy!

Here I was, um-teen miles away from home, heading into a hectic week of interviews and workshops and yet I felt joy and did I mention there was a lift in my walk?

So you tell me, are you open to this kind of... innocent, exuberant, reflective and thoughtful joy? I pray you are and I hope this week you experience joy fresh and new, from our Heavenly Father directly to you.

Let me hear your joy stories, email me at linda@livepowerfullynow.org. I'd love to share them.

Blessings my friend... Linda
