Spring is upon us, spring forward with a renewed enthusiasm for your fitness and well being. You will find some fun food, fitness and focus tips in this newsletter to keep you on track as summer approaches and tempts us to show off our hard work.

NUTRITION Are you working hard to loose weight, trying every fad diet, think you are eating right, and exercising but to your dismay you are not loosing those pounds? Hold on to your pant size, what I am about to tell you may shock you. You may need to EAT MORE!!
QUESTIONS
Are you working out 4 to 5 times a week?
Have you modified your calories from when you started your goal?
Do you go to bed or wake feeling hungry?
Have you lost your appetite?
Do you feel sluggish and tired even though you think your are eating 'good'?
Are you just not loosing any weight despite your efforts?
ANSWERS
If we don't know how many calories are coming in EVERY DAY we are just guessing. There are many programs online like CalorieKing, simple little calorie books from Barnes and Noble that fit in your pocket, or ask me about the amazing Body Bug program I can set you up on for free for 90 days. If you use the 'I don't have time' excuse your not serious about your goal. It should take less than 15 mins to estimate your calories, less time than a T.V. show, less time than waiting for a Starbucks, less time than.......well you get the idea.
The body does not work on guessing, it needs more than 1200 calories everyday. Any thing less and the body is literally STARVING and does not allow any fat to be lost. Working in this deprived state causes extreme hardship on the body. STARVING people are grumpy, sluggish, loose hair and skin quality as the body shuts down to conserve energy. The media tells us to eat less, cut calories, be fat free, no carbs...they are wrong! You can eat what you want and anything you want in moderation but anything less than 1200 and your body thinks you are dying, literally.
Greens and Fruits are the fastest way to reduce calorie intake while still getting the vital nutrients the body needs.

Featured exercise of the month:
Exercise Name: Squat Row Area: Total Body Concentration: Complete use of every body function at the same time.
Description: Squat in a 'chair' posture, sit low, feet hip width apart, back flat. Hold two light dumbbells at the knees with a palms up grip. Moving as slow as possible lift the dumbbells and row elbows back pinching the shoulder blades together. Return to starting position, never releasing the squat; repeat 15 times. Break, repeat three sets. The quads should be burning by repetition 12, but don't come out of the squat.
