War Eagle from the Atlanta Auburn Club!

Greetings!

We have some great news to report from our annual Auburn Clubs meeting earlier this month in Auburn. Once again, the Atlanta Auburn Club was awarded the top level "All Auburn All Orange" award for Auburn Club Excellence! We were one of eight clubs nationwide to achieve this distinction for the 2011 club year (there are 98 clubs in all) - it's a level we have maintained since this award was first given out.  And, for the 2nd year in a row, the Atlanta Auburn Club was also very honored to receive the "Most Outstanding Communication" award! On the financial side of things, we also presented Auburn with a check for $23,000 for the Atlanta Auburn Club Endowed Scholarship Fund - we still have a lot of fundraising work ahead of us to continue building this fund, but it is moving in the right direction. Thank YOU for your continued support of our efforts! WAR EAGLE!

This weekend Auburn hosts it's first ever ALL IN weekend - five sports are competing at home February 17-19.Click here for full details

And did everyone see this item from AJC sports blogger Jeff Schultz last week?! It has certainly prompted a lot of discussion on our Facebook page. What do you think? Should the South's oldest college football rivalry be "sacrificed" for an expanded SEC? Tell us by email, on Twitter @atlantaAUclub, or Facebook. Ironically, the 120th anniversary of that first Auburn-Georgia game in 1892 at Piedmont Park is this coming Monday, February 20.

Be sure to check our full email below for information and dates on lots of Auburn fun here in Atlanta - as well as an update on how many children's books we collected last Fall for Atlanta Brave Tim Hudson's Hudson Family Foundation.

Get LinkedIn with the Atlanta Auburn Club!

Possible Networking Events this year? And looking for Auburn Recruiters to Join Us, too

logo Our LinkedIn group has just hit 500 members! This is amazing because this effort was rooted in the economic mess that still has a hold on Atlanta and the country as a whole. Auburn Tigers were being downsized or were graduating and couldn't find jobs... and they all wanted a way to network with the AU Family here in metro Atlanta. Now that there are hundreds of Tigers gathered with us on LinkedIn --- what next?

We want to foster an Auburn spirit where we can help each other.  Unemployment in the metro area is still very high. And we are interested in helping our Auburn Family make more helpful contacts - when they relocate to Atlanta, or are seeking a new job. We are also looking at how we can make this group more dynamic, with speakers/networking events in 2012.

Do you know Auburn Tigers who have been unable to find a job? Does your company have jobs that Auburn Tigers might be able to apply for? And, are you an Auburn Tiger who works as a recruiter and can help generate some discussions on our group that can benefit everyone (whether on resumes, links for interview skills... or anything else that is helpful)? Please join us!

Keep the Winning Tradition Rolling with Toomer's Rolls!

image
It's Auburn's newest game day accessory!
Toomer's Rolls, developed by an Auburn grad and her Georgia Tech pal from business school in Atlanta, are made out of soft "scarf like" material that will keep you wrapped in spirit whether watching the game home or away.  Wrapped around replica cardboard toilet paper rolls, and featuring fine stitching that mimics toilet paper perforation seams- these scarves give a nod to Auburn's famous winning tradition while preserving the delicate Toomer's Oaks. But the best part is the price: $17.16 - an obvious nod to the score of the 1972 Iron Bowl (shipping included).  Grab yours before the next AU game at www.toomersrolls.com and share in the winning tradition!
