War Eagle! Big away game for the Tigers today and we are expecting good turnouts at our game watching locations. Full listing with addresses is below. The game will be broadcast on CBS at 3:30pm ET. If you are on the road, you can also check the game day listings here
Today, marks the start of the AAC's October-FEST!
We've got a lot going on this month and it made sense to give it a name - here are all the details:
---TODAY, October 1: Verizon Wireless is joining us at The Bucket Shop for the South Carolina game; we will also be selling club t-shirts
---On October 8: Verizon joins us Twisted Taco (Wieuca Road location) for the Arkansas game
---On October 8: We will be participating again in Rally Foundation's "4 Quarters 4 Research" fundraiser for Children's Cancer Research. So, check your couches, your drawers and under the seats of your car for any unwanted pennies, nickels, dimes, etc. - put those coins in a ziploc bag, and bring it to The Bucket Shop and Twisted Taco/Weiuca Road -- we will have volunteers going around with buckets to collect change - so we can make a change for children with cancer. (Rally is an AU-founded charity in Atlanta); if you cannot make it to either of these locations but have a bag of change to donate - contact us!
---On October 15: We have a bus trip headed to Auburn for the big game versus the Florida Gators
---On October 16: We are headed to the Georgia Dome for Falcons-Panthers; it's Cam Newton's Atlanta homecoming and we are going to have HUNDREDS of Auburn Tigers in the house! Tailgating too?!
---On October 20: Atlanta Auburn & Tennessee alums planning "Beat Bama" event - SAVE THE DATE!
---On October 22: Verizon joins us at The Bucket Shop for LSU game watching
---For Halloween (October 31): Show us your best Auburn jack-o-lanterns and spook-tacular decorations & costumes by posting them on our Facebook page -- or send us a tweet @atlantaAUclub
---Starting TODAY (and running through the rest of the season), the Atlanta Auburn Club is also launching a children's book drive. We are joining forces with the Atlanta-based Hudson Family Foundation (Atlanta Braves Tim Hudson and his wife, Kim) to collect donations of new/gently used children's books for the Rookie Reader Program, which benefits schools and youth-serving organizations throughout Georgia and Alabama. The Atlanta Auburn Club is asking Auburn Tigers to bring children's book donations to our game-watching locations and our bus trips, etc. If you cannot make it to an Atlanta Auburn Club event and have books to donate, contact us and we can make other arrangements. How many books can we collect?! We are going to count all of them! Help us make this AUBURN FAMILY community service project a grand slam home run! (We are trying to get some collection barrels at our viewing locations, if anyone knows where we can get some barrels....please let us know)

| AAC 2011 Bus Trips: Next Stop - Auburn to See Tigers vs. Gators!
Don't wait until the last minute, reserve your seats NOW for Florida and UGA games
 Our next stop this season is AUBURN for the home game on October 15th to cheer our Tigers as they face the Florida Gators! We only have one bus reserved for this trip - so DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE - reserve you seat now! Kickoff still hasn't been announced but since it is a home game, we do plan to get to Auburn early for plenty of tailgating, etc. Departure location will be the Sandy Springs MARTA station (directions below). Bus parking location in Auburn is within walking distance of the Hill dorms - there is also convenient & frequent shuttle service that takes you right to the area by the old basketball coliseum. Satellite TV is ordered for ALL of our bus trips this year. And, as in years past, riders can bring personal-sized coolers aboard the bus (larger coolers must be stowed below). So why worry about driving when you can start your tailgating earlier and ride with us to the game?! Atlanta Auburn Club Bus policy for the 2011 season: Seat reservations are confirmed only through pre-payment via credit card links posted by the Atlanta Auburn Club. The Atlanta Auburn Club has no control over TV kickoff times, and to secure buses we must reserve them early. Pre-paid fares for game day trips are non-refundable, but can be transferred (with notice to club) to another Auburn Tiger or someone on the club waiting list (if applicable). Bus departure times and locations will be announced prior to game day travel. If there are not enough riders for a particular bus trip, the club will refund prepaid funds to riders for said trip. |
Atlanta Auburn Club Outing to Falcons-Panthers on Oct. 16
We sold over 300 tickets for this game! Expect to see a lot of Auburn at the Georgia Dome!
 We are going to have an amazing turnout of Auburn Tigers at the Georgia Dome for Cam Newton's hometown debut as quarterback for the Carolina Panthers. Lee Ziemba is also playing for the Panthers. Thanks to everyone who took advantage of our great group ticket deal with the Atlanta Falcons. It is probably safe to say that the Falcons will be offering us some group discounts in the future after this outstanding response. The Falcons said we can cheer for Cam and Lee all we want.... as long as we pull for Atlanta to win ;-)
This game is part of a BIG Auburn football weekend that includes the Tigers home game versus the Florida Gators on Saturday. (The Atlanta Auburn Club has a bus trip to Auburn planned for that Saturday)
So, with such a big part of the Family joining us in Atlanta for the Falcons game, too, we're thinking TAILGATE! The Falcons have recommended that we target the Yellow Lot for our pre-game tailgating on Sunday, October 16 because it is cheaper and has easy access both in and out on game day. We cannot pre-order spaces in any of the lots and typically all of them fill up about 90 minutes to 2 hours before kickoff. But the Falcons have told us as long as we are set up by 10am - we should be fine. So, who's ALL IN??

Chizik Family YouTurn Foundation: Tornado Trash2Treasure Event
Online Auction Enables Auburn Family Everywhere to Participate
 During multiple trips to clean and rebuild the Dadeville, Alabama, area, Jonna Chizik, wife of Coach Gene Chizik, recovered various items of "tornado trash" from the storm's aftermath. Once considered treasures by their families, these slightly damaged and unclaimed items were now considered "trash."
The Chizik Family YouTurn Foundation has partnered with over 40 Auburn-area artists to revive these pieces and bring them back to life for others to enjoy as new treasures. Even former Auburn star and Super Bowl Champion Kendall Simmons was called into action! See his masterpiece here.
"Tornado Trash2Treasure" items will be available for bidding during a silent and live auction during the Tornado Trash2Treasure Art Gala and Celebration Concert. Some of the artists will be present to share their personal story of how they transformed the trash into treasure and what inspired them to create each unique masterpiece. Items range from furniture, canvas art, pencil art, quilts, fiber art, glass work, doors, shutters and more!

Atlanta BeltLine Running Series "Tailgate Challenge" Dec. 3
An Auburn Team... AND a 6-mile Tailgate?!!! War Eagle!!!
The 3rd and final run of the 2011 Atlanta BeltLine Running Series is set for Saturday, December 3, and a Tailgate Challenge is being added to the mix for this event. On 'Championship Saturday' all Auburn runners/walkers are invited to participate in this 10k which explores new parks, such as the Historic Fourth Ward Park and Skatepark - and we'll see which Atlanta-area alumni group has the most school spirit! (Ummmm, we all know who that is! Hint: we wear burnt orange & navy and say "War Eagle!!!" to everyone... and by the way -- the race director for this BeltLine series is an Auburn Tiger, so we want to get a big Auburn showing out for this event!! WDE!)
What: Atlanta BeltLine Eastside 10k Run/Walk
When: Saturday, December 3rd at 10am ET (please arrive early)
Where: Registration: Piedmont Park/Park Tavern, 500 10th Street Atlanta, GA
- Post-race activities: Park Tavern, 500 10th Street Atlanta, GA
- Ample parking is available for a fee at the Piedmont Park/Botanical Gardens parking deck.
Limited parking is available for a fee at Park Tavern. We encourage you to take MARTA to the Arts Center or Midtown stations, which are a short walk from Piedmont Park.

The Atlanta Auburn Club is recognized as a not-for-profit corporation by the state of Georgia, and the club's Roy B. Sewell Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc. holds 501(c)(3) non-profit status from the IRS. The AAC raises thousands of dollars annually to fund our Annual & Endowed Scholarships for metro Atlanta area students to attend Auburn University. The club is a member of AU's 1856 Society, which recognizes donors whose cumulative gifts total $100,000 and above. The Greater Atlanta metro area is home to more than 22,000 Auburn alumni, fans & friends....and still growing. War Eagle!
