 | | War Eagle from the Atlanta Auburn Club! | | |
| Greetings!
War Eagle! Lots of new information to share this week, including the latest on Saturday's game at Jordan-Hare, a message from Jay Jacobs, an AUmazing Tiger Turnout expected for the Falcons-Panthers/Cam Newton game, an Auburn presence at a BeltLine 10k in December ...and information about a very special Tornado relief fundraiser being held in October by the Chizik Family Foundation. And, the Atlanta Auburn Club has so much FUN packed into October, we're calling it our own October-fest!!! More on this in a minute....
First, if you are headed to Auburn for Saturday's game:
- The Auburn Alumni Center will be open from 12p-5:30p CT.
- The Alumni Hospitality Tent will be open between 3p-5:30p CT.
- Kickoff is at 6pm CT/ 7pm ET (TV coverage is on Fox Sports Network).
- There are still one-game tickets available for purchase; go to aubtix.com
- For all other gameday information, including hotel availability, go to this link: www.auburn.edu/gameday
We still have THREE MORE bus trips scheduled for this season. Next up: South Carolina. CBS elected to use a 6-day option for selection of football games to be played Sat, Oct. 1. So, the game time and broadcast network for the Auburn-South Carolina game won't be announced until this Sunday or Monday. The game will either be televised at 3:30p ET or 8p ET by CBS or at 12pm ET by ESPN. We still need to fill a minimum number of seats on our bus -- so if you have a ticket and want to ride with us, make your reservations now! Departure time will be announced after we hear when kickoff will be. Departure location will be the Sandy Springs MARTA station. Cost: $50/per person. Link to reserve your seat is below.
There will also be an Auburn Alumni Tailgate at the South Carolina game - click here for details
Since we can't be in Munich for Oktoberfest right now... who's ready for an Orange & Blue ALL Auburn October-FEST in Atlanta?! In addition to the bus trips and Falcons game in October, the Atlanta Auburn Club is joining together with Verizon Wireless, the Hudson Family Foundation, and Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research to do some good .... and have some fun in October. Plus, the AAC's young alums are planning a "Beat Bama" event on October 20 with the Atlanta Tennessee young alums.

| Atlanta Auburn Club 2011 Bus Trips: Next Stop - South Carolina!
Reserve your seats NOW for the South Carolina game
First, thank you and a big WAR EAGLE to all the Auburn Tigers who joined us for the bus ride to Clemson! We got two busloads of Auburn fans to the game and even had some Tigers fly in from New York and Florida to join us for the ride. Great group - great company - and great spot to spy all the Crimson Tide fans sitting in traffic for our game (what was that all about?!) Our next stop this season is SOUTH CAROLINA! We only have one bus reserved for this trip and there are still seats available. If you have a ticket to the game and plan to join us... please reserve your seat now!! We realize that many people are waiting to hear what time kickoff will be but we need to make our minimum seat occupancy to ensure that this bus trip moves ahead! As soon as kickoff is announced, we will let everyone know the departure time. Departure location will be the Sandy Springs MARTA station (directions below). Satellite TV is ordered for ALL of our bus trips this year. And, as in years past, riders can bring personal-sized coolers aboard the bus (larger coolers must be stowed below). So why worry about driving when you can start your tailgating earlier and ride with us to the game?!! NEXT TRIP: OCT 1 - AUBURN at SOUTH CAROLINA (one bus only) -- Kickoff TBA, Cost: $50/per person. Click here to reserve seats: https://quickclick.com/r/dr60b This will be a one-day trip. Depending on kickoff time we will arrange to get there early enough for tailgating - departure will be one hour after the game. There will also be an Auburn Alumni Tailgate at the South Carolina game - click here for details Seats can also be reserved now for these bus trips: Atlanta Auburn Club Bus policy for the 2011 season: Seat reservations are confirmed only through pre-payment via credit card links posted by the Atlanta Auburn Club. The Atlanta Auburn Club has no control over TV kickoff times, and to secure buses we must reserve them early. Pre-paid fares for game day trips are non-refundable, but can be transferred (with notice to club) to another Auburn Tiger or someone on the club waiting list (if applicable). Bus departure times and locations will be announced prior to game day travel. If there are not enough riders for a particular bus trip, the club will refund prepaid funds to riders for said trip.

We've Got 316 AU Tigers Headed to Falcons-Panther Outing Oct 16!
There will be a lot of "War Eagle!" cheers and Auburn at the Georgia Dome!
Woooooo! Did everyone read that number?! We want to say it again -- 316!
We are going to have an amazing turnout of Auburn Tigers at the Georgia Dome for Cam Newton's hometown debut as quarterback for the Carolina Panthers. Lee Ziemba is also playing for the Panthers. Thanks to everyone who took advantage of our great group ticket deal with the Atlanta Falcons. It is probably safe to say that the Falcons will be offering us some group discounts in the future after this outstanding response. The Falcons said we can cheer for Cam and Lee all we want.... as long as we pull for Atlanta to win ;-)
This game is part of a BIG Auburn football weekend that includes the Tigers home game versus the Florida Gators on Saturday. (The Atlanta Auburn Club has a bus trip to Auburn planned for that Saturday)
So, with such a big part of the Family joining us in Atlanta for the Falcons game, too, we're thinking TAILGATE! The Falcons have recommended that we target the Yellow Lot for our pre-game tailgating on Sunday, October 16 because it is cheaper and has easy access both in and out on game day. We cannot pre-order spaces in any of the lots and typically all of them fill up about 90 minutes to 2 hours before kickoff. But the Falcons have told us as long as we are set up by 10am - we should be fine. So, who's ALL IN??
Here is link to a map of the Falcons game day parking: http://vsv.atlantafalcons.com/#/parking/
Anyone who can help us get this Tailgate going -- and Tigers to the lot -- please contact club president Kathleen Saal at communications@atlantaauburnclub.org -- and at the game, we'll be expecting to see everyone wear something Auburn - we also want to see some Auburn signs for TV coverage! WDE!!

A Month So Packed - We're Calling it an ALL AUBURN October-FEST!
Get Ready to Have Some Fun with the Atlanta Auburn Club! Bus trips, a visit to the Georgia Dome to cheer Cam Newton and Lee Ziemba... a Beat Bama gathering with the Tennessee Vols here in Atlanta... and look what else we have planned: Verizon Wireless joins the AAC for three special days of promotions in October October 1: Auburn at South Carolina Game-watching at The Bucket Shop
October 8: Auburn at Arkansas Game-watching at Twisted Taco (Wieuca Road location)
October 22: Auburn at LSU Game-watching at The Bucket Shop
The Atlanta Auburn Club is also joining forces with the Hudson Family Foundation (Braves Tim Hudson and his wife, Kim) to launch a children's book drive in October. We've been challenged by the Auburn Alumni Association to do a community service project during the week of Oct 1-8; we're getting it started that week, but we're going to continue it for the rest of the football season! The Rookie Reader Program benefits schools and youth serving organizations throughout Georgia and Alabama. The Atlanta Auburn Club will be asking Auburn Tigers to bring children's books to our game-watching locations. How many books can we collect?! We are going to count all of them! So we really want this to be a home run!
In October, we will also be asking everyone to check their couches and under their car seats for forgotten and unwanted pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters. We will be collecting spare change again this year for another Auburn-founded charity: it's Rally Foundation's "4 Quarters 4 Research" fundraiser to raise money for Childhood Cancer Research.
More details on all of this..next week! War Eagle!

September 21, 2011
If you have not had a chance to make it to Auburn this fall, this weekend would be a great time to visit.
The Auburn football team will play its first night game of the season against Florida Atlantic at 6 p.m. CT on Saturday. There is nothing quite like a night game at Jordan-Hare Stadium, and single-game tickets for Florida Atlantic are still available. Fans can purchase single-game tickets online at www.aubtix.com, by calling (855) AUB-2010 or on the day of the game at the west-side ticket windows of Jordan-Hare Stadium and the Auburn Arena Ticket Office.
Football isn't the only sport in action this weekend. Auburn volleyball hosts Alabama at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23 at the Student Act. If you have never attended a volleyball match at Auburn, I would encourage you to give it a try. It's a fast-moving sport and a great environment. Auburn is currently 6-6 with two key SEC match-ups at home this weekend. In addition to Alabama on Friday, first year Head Coach Rick Nold's team plays Ole Miss at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free.
Coach Karen Hoppa's soccer team is ranked No. 22 in the country with a 6-2 record. Soccer opens SEC play this weekend with a Friday match against Kentucky at 7:30 p.m. at the Auburn soccer field, followed by a Sunday match at home against Vanderbilt at 2:30 p.m. CT. Admission is free.
Tough test ahead for Auburn football As we saw last Saturday, our football team will experience some growing pains this year. This season's schedule ranks among the toughest Auburn has ever played. In the month of October, we play at No. 12 South Carolina, at No. 14 Arkansas, at home against No. 15 Florida and at No. 2 LSU. Auburn has only played four ranked teams in a row three times in school history, and never with such a young and inexperienced team. The last time Auburn played four consecutive ranked teams was in 1987.
Our youth and inexperience is not an excuse. It is a fact. Consider the following: ˇ Auburn signed a total of 58 players in the 2007 and 2008 recruiting classes (the classes that are this year's fourth and fifth-year seniors). Only nine players from those two classes remain. Roughly half of the players who signed in 2007 and 2008 either never enrolled at Auburn, quit or transferred. ˇ Auburn has seven seniors on its two-deep depth chart. Auburn has four seniors on the offensive depth chart and only three on defense. We know from last year's success that a large class of fourth and fifth-year seniors is crucial for success. It will be several years before we reach those numbers again. ˇ By comparison, the first four teams that we play in October (South Carolina, Arkansas, Florida and LSU) have an average of 14 seniors on their two-deep depth chart.
Even though we face an enormous challenge the remainder of this season given our youth and inexperience, the future is bright for Auburn football. Coach Gene Chizik and his staff are recruiting the kind of student-athletes who qualify and who will make a difference as they gain experience. Fifty-six of the past 57 players who signed with Auburn the past two years in back-to-back Top 5 National classes qualified academically. That bodes well for the future.
You will not hear Coach Chizik talk about our youth, but those are the facts. That is the reality we face. The future is bright with 36 freshmen and sophomores on our depth chart, but this season will be a huge test. As I learned as a player, growing pains now will pay off later in terms of experience and wins.
As I shared with you before the season began, it is easy to be "All In" when things are going well. We need you to be "All In" all the time-this year and every year.
Thanks for being the best fans in the country. I look forward to seeing you in Auburn for our first night game of the season and at our other athletic events during this busy but exciting weekend.
God Bless and War Eagle!
Jay Jacobs
Director of Athletics

Chizik Family YouTurn Foundation: Tornado Trash2Treasure Event
Online Auction Enables Auburn Family Everywhere to Participate
During multiple trips to clean and rebuild the Dadeville, Alabama, area, Jonna Chizik, wife of Coach Gene Chizik, recovered various items of "tornado trash" from the storm's aftermath. Once considered treasures by their families, these slightly damaged and unclaimed items were now considered "trash."
The Chizik Family YouTurn Foundation has partnered with over 40 Auburn-area artists to revive these pieces and bring them back to life for others to enjoy as new treasures.
"Tornado Trash2Treasure" items will be available for bidding during a silent and live auction during the Tornado Trash2Treasure Art Gala and Celebration Concert. Some of the artists will be present to share their personal story of how they transformed the trash into treasure and what inspired them to create each unique masterpiece. Items range from furniture, canvas art, pencil art, quilts, fiber art, glass work, doors, shutters and more!
