Mud...Football... and AUBURN! It's the Gridiron Trail Rush!

Join the AAC on August 13 at Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers

Get ready for the 2011 College Football Season... in the mud! Join the Atlanta Auburn Club at the Gridiron Trail Rush on Saturday, August 13. This is an event that is part Warrior Dash - part SEC Tailgate - and a whole lotta fun!

We are looking for a big Auburn Tiger turnout to help kick off this inaugural event in the metro Atlanta area. Best part? Some proceeds from all Auburn entries will be donated back to the Atlanta Auburn Club's 501(c)(3) Roy B. Sewell Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Gridiron Trail Rush is a 5k trail run that takes you through an entry tunnel, creek, hills, mud pit, tires and a whole lot more with an end-zone finish line. And of course - it wouldn't be football without wearing your favorite college colors and a "post-game" party. Bring your family and friends to cheer you on, challenge your rivals, and challenge yourself to discover who is #1!!!

Have some fun -- get dirty -- and show everyone what a REAL FAN looks like! WAR EAGLE!!

There are two divisions:
* Varsity division: A more competitive division with a premium shirt and early access to the trail.
* Tailgater division: A fun run challenge with commemorative shirt and later start time to tackle the course.

Date: Saturday, August 13, 2011

Location: Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers  (check here for directions: http://www.georgiahorsepark.com/TourOurFacility/Directions/tabid/544/Default.aspx)

Alumni Continuing Education Opportunity

This program offers a unique opportunity to join an "intergenerational conversation" between continuing education alumni and today's Auburn students on the most crucial political issues concerning Alabama, the United States, and the entire world community. Alumni will be able to audit the online course "Global Politics and Issues, POLI 1050" presented by the Alma Holladay Professor of Political Science, Dr. Ted Becker. Dr. Becker, who has authored 14 books, is a former recipient of the Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award presented each year by the Auburn Alumni Association.
Alumni participants in this class will be able to watch live lectures in real time via streaming video, which will also be archived so it can be accessed by auditors any time. Since the auditors will be "virtual college students at Auburn," they will be using the same Blackboard online educational system today's Auburn student body uses. This will permit participants to have live electronic discussions about the required readings with an actual honors section, an online section of today's Auburn undergraduates, and the professor, any time, day or night. For more information visit
