| Greetings!
Hope that everyone has had a safe and happy Easter weekend.
Only one more day until Coach Chizik's 2011 Tiger Trek tour opens with his first stop -- in Atlanta! Are you ready?!
Over the weekend, we received a number of emails and messages asking if it is still possible to pre-register. YES! Pre-registration is still open on our website: http://www.atlantaauburnclub.org (through tomorrow morning; after that, you will have to pay at the door; so register now!). It's going to be an AU-some turnout on Monday...
Thank you for your support of our efforts. We have a BIG night planned. It's the one night a year when Atlanta becomes the Heart of Auburn... so don't miss it! There will be Auburn merchandise vendors, our big silent auction which benefits our 501(c)(3) scholarship fund (details on the website), the BCS Trophy....and some AUBURN TIGER SURPRISES!
And don't forget:
- Every Penny Counts - Bring a bag/jar of your spare/unwanted change (pennies, nickels, dimes, etc) to TIGER TREK ATLANTA - every penny collected that night will go into the Atlanta Auburn Club Endowment Fund to build a strong base for scholarships for future generations of metro Atlanta Tigers; everyone who participates will get an extra ticket for our big raffle that night!
- Toomer's Fund Effort - The Atlanta Auburn Club is partnering with Buck Jones Nursery, founded by AU grad Arthur A. "Buck" Jones, to raise awareness and some money for the Toomer's Fund. The Live Oak trees that have become a tradition at our event will be part of our silent auction this year. Each of these trees is about 6 years old and about 10'-12' in height. They will be in 30-gallon containers and are about 2" in caliper (diameter). Bidding for each tree will start at $150/each. Winners do not have to transport the trees from the hall after our event. Pickup or delivery can be arranged through the club and Buck Jones. While we remain optimistic our beloved trees at Toomer's Corner will be saved, we believe the only answer to what happened is to spread Auburn's deeply rooted tradition & spirit ...far & wide! Note from Buck Jones Nursery: Live Oaks are evergreens in warmer climates; in metro Atlanta, they will lose their leaves in winter and leaf out again in the Spring, like dogwoods, oaks, etc.
