War Eagle from the Atlanta Auburn Club!

Greetings!

War Eagle everyone! Big celebration planned in Auburn this Saturday to mark the Tigers' National Championship victory one week ago! Since we are now free of the snow and ice in the metro area, the Atlanta Auburn Club is planning a bus trip - just for the fun of it! Since we are a non-profit, we need to fill seats to do this - and we need to do it fast, so check the information below and reserve your seat now!

Many Tigers who were stuck at home watching the game because of the weather/travel conditions in Atlanta have asked if we might be able to have a replay party. We are currently checking into this and will get back to everyone (in particular, we are double-checking that we won't break some ESPN rule on re-broadcasting, etc./for now, pencil in January 29 as a possible date).

Do you have a story to share from the Tigers' National Championship season? The AAC has been contacted by another journalist working on a piece and he is seeking unique stories from Tiger fans for the whole season. Full details below.

The Atlanta Auburn Club is seeking nominations of AU graduates who have the time and passion to serve on our board of directors. We have a couple of slots to fill this year. It's a serious job and we are looking for the best Tigers to fill the positions. If you know a grad who loves Auburn, and has the interests of our Auburn Tiger community at heart, please send a letter of nomination with graduation year and qualifications to communications@atlantaauburnclub.org. Deadline is Jan 31.

And Georgia Senator Bill Hamrick ('88) has some page slots to fill for the current session of the Georgia legislature. If any metro area Auburn fans have children that would be interested in being a page for this session (pages must be at least 12 years old), please email Sen. Hamrick's wife, Susan, and she will put you in touch with a scheduler. Email at: Susan@princessbubble.com

AAC Bus Trip to National Championship Celebration in Auburn

We're Finally Free of the Snow/Ice! Ride with the AAC to the Party in Auburn on Saturday

logo

The Atlanta Auburn Club is headed to Auburn on Saturday for the Official National Championship Celebration at Jordan-Hare! We have room for 56 Tigers on a bus headed to the Plains. And we've made the round-trip fare the absolute cheapest we can to still break event---only $25/per person.

We will depart from the Sandy Springs MARTA station, just off GA 400 on Abernathy Road/Perimeter Center West, which offers free parking. Departure is TBA (we are looking at 9-9:30a to allow everyone time to do whatever before the start of the Auburn festivities.)

The official event at Jordan-Hare starts at 1pm CT, gates open at 11am CT. This is a non-ticketed event that includes a reverse Tiger Walk. Bus will return to Atlanta after the event (Note: we know there is an Auburn-Alabama basketball game and had checked with the athletic department on tickets, but the game is sold out)

More info on the event is posted here.

ALL Auburn fans are invited to join us for this trip!

Since the event is this Saturday, January 22, only credit cards reservations will be accepted, and there will be no refunds.

Make your reservations now, by clicking this link: https://quickclick.com/r/sofzu

Note: if the bus sells out, and there is high enough demand, we might still have an option on a second bus. But we need everyone to respond as quickly as possible!

Do You Have a Story to Tell from the 2010 Auburn Season?

There is yet another article being written about Auburn fan experiences this past football season. The Atlanta-based journalist writing the piece has contacted the Atlanta Auburn Club to see if we can help him find some Tigers with some stories to tell.

---Did this football season have a greater, personal meaning for you (i.e., watching with an ill friend or relative, or perhaps for another reason).

---Did you go the extra mile to follow the team this year (going to all the games/have you been to every game for years?).

---Perhaps an odd superstition got the best of you this season?

---Do you have a very unique story about what it took for you to go to the BCS game (buying tickets on the secondary market or fighting the weather/delayed flights to get there).

---Do you have a unique story of being stuck here in Atlanta for the game?

Again, "unique" is the need here. So if you think you have a story that qualifies, please send them to the club at the email address below. Deadline for submissions is Noon ET on Wednesday. Thanks!

If you missed the articles on our metro Auburn community that appeared in the AJC on Sunday, January 9, here are the links:

Circle of Excellence Donors
Your Auburn Alumni Association offers an exciting opportunity for life members to give back to Auburn University. The Circle of Excellence was created to increase the endowment for Auburn Alumni Association Endowed Scholarships, the only scholarship program at Auburn University designed to specifically support the children of life members. How else can I give?
Just make your tax-deductible contribution to the 'Auburn University Foundation', designating the Atlanta Auburn Club Endowment Fund in the "Notes" line of your check.
