War Eagle from the Atlanta Auburn Club!

Greetings!

War Eagle everyone! Though it seems ALL of metro Atlanta has headed to Glendale, there are still substantial numbers of us stuck here. And weather has now become a factor in our game watching plans for the BCS National Championship game on Monday night. Latest information this morning has us under a Winter Storm Warning from 7pm Sunday through 7pm Monday, with inches of snow, plus dreaded ice, headed our way.

Because of the expected hazardous weather/road conditions, Auburn University is closing campus on Monday. The BCS viewing events planned for the Auburn Arena and Auburn University Student Center are also canceled. Latest info from Auburn will be posted here:
http://www.auburn.edu/

Kickoff for the game is 8:30pm ET Monday on ESPN. We have confirmed that the game will also be broadcast locally on the radio (AM & FM) here in the metro area, as well as XM/Sirius. Full details on this, as well as metro area viewing locations, can be found below.

Meantime, we have heard from our Auburn Tiger Family in Arizona that the weather there is great... some have even sent us photos, including some late breaking shots from the site of the pep rally. You can find those below, as well as some more Auburn fun!

An Oregon fan just tweeted this (about 4:40p ET Sunday) @LianamarDS: Too many #Auburn fans getting of all the planes, I can't take it! where are all the #Oregon peeps? See a collection of more Auburn/BCS Tweets that we've compiled below.

Don't forget: Monday's game is ALL AUBURN - ALL ORANGE!
And for everyone reading this in Phoenix and Las Vegas: the "Unofficial" Tiger Walk in Glendale on Game Day will be near Gate 3 of the stadium - team is to arrive about 4:20pm Arizona time.

The AJC sports section has a great piece on our Auburn fan community here in the metro area. If you don't get the paper, here is a link to the article. And there is a bonus too - we had given them a list of big alums here and they contacted one: Check that out here

For everyone in Glendale, Vegas, en route, or staying here in metro Atlanta, please email or Tweet us your photos & videos! We want to see LOTS of Orange, LOTS of Auburn Spirit... and, hopefully, plenty of "rolling" after the game! WDE - AU FAMILY - ALL IN!

SNOWMAGEDDON & BCS Game Watching in Metro Atlanta

Message from Atlanta Auburn Club President

For those of us who are here in the metro area, I ask - on behalf of the Atlanta Auburn Club - that you make smart travel decisions on Monday. Atlanta is known to shut down in an inch or less of snow, so we do know that many Auburn Tigers will find it difficult to get anywhere, much less to viewing locations which can be a 10-30 mile or more drive from some parts of the metro area. With snow and ice forecast here, our roads could be treacherous -- please be careful.

I have gathered some additional information for everyone as a sort of "survival guide" should we really get packed in. Hope that it's helpful, and if you have any additional questions - feel free to email me at the club's email address -- I will respond so long as I have electricity! ;-)

Spoke with AU alum and 680TheFan's Chuck Oliver on Saturday. He confirmed with the station that 680TheFan will be broadcasting the game on AM 680 and 93.7 FM. If you lose electricity and have satellite radio in your car, XM/Sirius will also be broadcasting the game -- here is Auburn's BCS Schedule on XM

If you are traveling by air, or know someone who is, WSB reported this morning that Delta and Air Tran have already canceled hundred of flights in advance of the storm. Check your flights!

As we said at the top of the email, Auburn will be closed and official game viewing events there are canceled. Heard from friends in Birmingham yesterday that Auburn fans there were more worried about getting the game than getting "milk & bread". The B'ham News ran this piece.

If anyone is snowbound here in metro Atlanta and feels like having an "Auburn weather pep rally" (after all, the game is the OTHER big story on Monday) -- build an Auburn snowman (or something Auburn) and email to WSB pix@wsbtv.com - online, you can also upload photos at Weather Channel or Accuweather (they also have Facebook pages too!)

In case the best you can hope for is to walk, cross-country ski, ride a horse, or dogsled to a game watching location, some Auburn fans have sent me additional neighborhood locales that plan to show the game. So please check the updated list below.

The Auburn Tiger faithful have often been told that HELL would freeze over before Auburn won a BCS National Championship. Well, Auburn Tiger & CNN Weatherman Reynolds Wolf told me yesterday that, as of Saturday, Tuscaloosa was in store for about an inch of ice (hopefully more?!!)

And finally, I will admit that I'm feeling guilty about all this snow headed our way. I decided to create my own Christmas card this year and even wrote the lyrics to a song inside.  There was no way to print thousands of them to send out to each one of you, so I have scanned it and pasted it below for your Auburn BCS and "Snowmageddon" enjoyment. I really just meant Toomer's Corner!!  ;-)

WAR EAGLE! ALL AUBURN! ALL IN!

Tigers in Glendale: Please Read - Help Needed!

We have received a message from Atlanta Tiger Carie' Cato. If anyone is able to help, please let us know!  If you are headed back to the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport AFTER the game, or have a car and can give 2 college students a ride, Carie's son and his girlfriend need a ride (the local bus shuts down at 10:30pm, there are no shuttles, and they are too young to rent a car). They may have to sleep at the airport cause of Atlanta weather, but she wants to make sure they can get to airport.

If you can help, please email the club at communications@atlantaauburnclub.org

Get Involved
There are nearly 100 local Auburn Clubs throughout the country, and through these groups alums have the opportunity to participate in various fund-raising activities either directly for their local club scholarship or towards the Association's Endowed Scholarship.  In 2005-2006, more than $178,000 was raised by local clubs for students in their areas to attend Auburn.

Circle of Excellence Donors
Your Auburn Alumni Association offers an exciting opportunity for life members to give back to Auburn University. The Circle of Excellence was created to increase the endowment for Auburn Alumni Association Endowed Scholarships, the only scholarship program at Auburn University designed to specifically support the children of life members. Download a brochure or click here for more details.

How else can I give?
Just make your tax-deductible contribution to the 'Auburn University Foundation', designating the Atlanta Auburn Club Endowment Fund in the "Notes" line of your check. Or if you prefer, give online and specify the Atlanta Auburn Club Endowment or the AAC's Roy B. Sewell Annual club scholarship in the 'note other gift area here' space.
