| War Eagle from the Atlanta Auburn Club! |
|
|
Greetings!
War Eagle everyone! Another big game on The Plains today when Auburn takes on Arkansas - kickoff is 3:30pET and the game will be on CBS. Next week's game versus LSU will also be on CBS with another 3:30p ET kickoff.
The Atlanta Auburn Club has buses headed to Auburn for both the LSU and Georgia games... and they are filling up! Full details below- why drive when you can ride?!
If you are looking for tickets to the LSU game, check online at AuburnTigers.com We got word from the Athletic Department Thursday afternoon that LSU didn't sell all their tickets (and we announced it first on Facebook!), so a limited number of tickets for this game are still available.
Coach Chizik is still in first place, with over 32,000 votes in the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year competition. But now the Nebraska fans are trying to make a run on Auburn's numbers (they've passed Bama)... so now Bo Pelini is at second place with more than 18,000 votes. The winning coach receives $50,000 to donate to the charity of his choice and the winning alumni association can get up to $30,000 in scholarship money. We want Auburn to WIN this!! So, Vote NOW & Vote EVERY DAY! Click here to vote and pass the word to your fellow Tigers!
While you are voting for coach, head on over to ESPN's Heisman Vote & cast a vote for Cam Newton in that competition --- then cast a second vote for Cam for the O'Brien Quarterback Award - and VOTE EVERY DAY!!
And, go check out our new Facebook page for our Operation War Eagle efforts... we've got some new photos from Iraq posted. And please "Like" it while you're there! If you want to do a collection of school supplies, participate in our soccer league effort, or send something for the troops, let us know!
We'll be Tweeting during the game today --- so give us a shout out if you are online!
GO AUBURN TIGERS!!!

He Embodied the Auburn Spirit: Remembering Dean Foy Auburn's beloved dean died October 9 at the age of 93
From oanow.com
AUBURN - James Edgar Foy, one of the most widely known and beloved figures at Auburn University for more than half a century, died Friday evening in Auburn. He was 93.
As Auburn's dean of student affairs for a quarter century and a volunteer on campus for 30 more years, Foy became one of the most iconic Auburn figures of the last half of the 20th century. Foy was a University of Alabama graduate. But you would never know that by looking at him.
"I can't remember seeing Dean Foy and not seeing him in an Auburn tie or an Auburn shirt or whatnot," said Michael Tullier, AUdirector of external relations for the College of Education. "For somebody we all knew graduated from the University of Alabama and (who) came to Auburn ... to become such an epitome of the university and being so well known, just speaks to his love for the university and love for Auburn."
His school spirit is something Foy, emeritus AU dean of student affairs, shared with his daughters.
"Daddy loved Auburn, and Auburn loved daddy," his daughter Susan Foy Spratling said. "Daddy was a father figure to all the students whose lives he touched."
Foy died Friday (Oct 9) at the age of 93, but his legacy of school spirit lives on in his family, friends and all those who live by the Auburn Creed.
"He will always be the king of Auburn spirit," said Debbie Shaw, AU vice president of alumni affairs and a member of the Auburn Rotary Club. "The importance of the Auburn Creed to him ... he lived it, he breathed it. It was not just words. He shared it."
Foy was well known for his unique War Eagle cheer.
"When he gave that famous War Eagle cheer as only he could do, it came not only from the depths of his body, but (from) the depths of his soul," said David Housel, former Auburn athletic director. Read the rest of the article by clicking here
