| War Eagle from the Atlanta Auburn Club! |
|
|
Greetings!
War Eagle! Time to register for the Atlanta Auburn Club's BIG Game Day Kickoff event which is next Thursday, July 16, at the Cobb Galleria Convention Center. Advance registrations are most appreciated since they provide us a better picture of how many people will be attending. You will find a link below.
Also in this edition, more on our Aubie Birthday Party plans, as well as a "Top Secret" project that we are asking our youngest Tigers to help us with... (Aubie's going to love this!)
And start checking your pockets and under seat cushions and other nooks and crannies around your house, car and office. We're looking for neglected or forgotten nickels, dimes, pennies and quarters (dollar bills are okay too!). Put them in a ziploc bag and bring them with you to our event next Thursday. Your spare change can help make some positive change in childhood cancer research. It's the "4 Quarters 4 Research" project which is popular in schools around the state of Georgia - and part of the AAC's continuing community service project with Rally Foundation, founded by Auburn alum Dean Crowe. UGA is joining the "4 Quarters" effort this year, so we don't want to be outdone by the Bulldogs! Let's make Auburn #1!
If anyone has questions or needs more information about anything, please let us know. There are still tickets available for our Braves outing on August 1 - and we've gotten word of another job - info below.

Come Wish Aubie a "Happy Birthday!" at the AAC Kickoff Event!
Aubie is marking two big anniversaries in 2009 and the Atlanta Auburn Club is helping him celebrate! This Fall marks 50 years since his first appearance on the cover of an Auburn Football program. And this past February, marked 30 years of big time adventures: on the sidelines at football and basketball games, leading pep rallies, posing for calendars... and more!
Aubie first debuted on October 3, 1959, on the Auburn/Hardin-Simmons football program cover. Birmingham
Post-Herald artist Phil Neel drew the beloved cartoon which is so well-known today.
Well, next Thursday, July 16, Aubie is going to be in Atlanta and as part of our festivities, we're getting out the birthday hats and icing!
What is Aubie's favorite food? How does he keep his fur so clean? What does he like to do in the long, hot Summer? Is he friends with any of the other mascots? And is it true that Johnny Depp only barely beat him out for the role of Captain Jack Sparrow? ...Get answers to these and other questions next week at the Atlanta Auburn Club Kickoff event. Registration information is below.
We've invited some treasured "Friends of Aubie," including Barry Mask, Bob Harris, Rob Jameson, Joel Darby and others, to join us for the celebration. And, another treasured friend - Nova (War Eagle VII) - is coming too!
The AAC is also asking all the children who are planning to join us July 16 to help us with a very special "Top Secret" project! We are inviting you to bring Aubie a special drawing or handmade birthday card! But, shhhhh, don't tell him! We want to keep it a surprise! See you next Thursday!!!
Do you have a question for Aubie? If so, send it to us at: communications@atlantaauburnclub.org - we might use it in the program that night...
Here are some of the Atlanta Auburn Club's Favorite
Aubie Videos... skydiving - scuba diving - bungee jumping - water
skiing - is there anything Aubie doesn't do? Enjoy!!!
