| War Eagle from the Atlanta Auburn Club! |

|
Greetings!
Auburn has endured perhaps one of the saddest weeks in its history. One week ago today, we all learned of an unspeakable crime that left an Auburn freshman from Marietta dead, and thrust our beloved university into the local and national media spotlight. For those of us who live in metro Atlanta, such headlines are, sadly, all too common. But in a close-knit community like Auburn?...unthinkable. Amid the shock, sadness, disbelief, and search for answers, the Auburn Family has pulled together. It was a tragedy that has touched us all... and won't soon be forgotten. The deep emotion surrounding it all -- heightened only by the swiftness of the arrest of a suspect, and now, his reported confession to the crime. All of this --- in only one week.
The Atlanta Auburn Club is awaiting word of a possible memorial scholarship fund to be established in Lauren Burk's name at Auburn. As soon as we get more information, we will let everyone know and we'll be making a donation on behalf of the club. In the meantime, please continue to keep Lauren and her family in your prayers.... and if anyone is interested in sending a personal note to Lauren's family, the club will be happy to collect these together and get them to the family.

Update: HB 1165 & the Auburn Club Special Tag License Plate
Thanks to all the Auburn Tigers in Georgia and all the Auburn Clubs across the state for your overwhelming support of our call to action, regarding House Bill 1165, the so-called "Anti-Gator Tag" bill that also has the Auburn Club License Plate in its cross-hairs.
As of last night, the Georgia Assembly has a grand total of 10 legislative days remaining on its calendar for this session.
This reciprocity bill has been sitting in the Senate Public Safety Committee ever since it was passed by the House on February 21. And a lot of senators and representatives have gotten email and phone calls from Auburn Tigers since then.
If the session ends before any further action is taken on the bill -- HB 1165 will die a natural and very welcome death. However, we are prepared to oppose the bill -- in committee -- if the Senate panel ever schedules a hearing on the legislation.
There have been rumblings of the possible addition of a grandfather clause -- but until there is a hearing, any possible changes to the bill remain conjecture. And, if the Senate changes the language - it would have to go back to the House for another vote.
Although the assembly's legislative days are waning, legislative days do not equal calendar days. Together, we need to keep up the pressure to make sure there is no 11th hour attempt to pass this legislation in the last couple of days of the session.
Our petition has now topped 1,100 online signatures. War Eagle! |

How Do You Show Your Auburn Spirit? Send the AAC Your Photos!

I
work in the marketing department for Cooper Lighting which is
headquartered in Peachtree City, GA with responsibilities for our trade
show and display programs among other things. Being a lighting
company, our tradeshow booths always try to show the show attendees
what lighting can do in a certain space. At the homebuilders show we
have several different application areas to show different lighting
styles....i.e. kitchen lighting, bathroom, living room etc..... Well,
this year we wanted to do a game room so naturally I designed an Auburn
game room complete with custom hand blown sconces and pendant. I
received several "War Eagle's" for the room and people would go out of
their way to shake my hand, tell me they loved the room and have a
conversation about AU. That was something new for me....made me proud
to be an AU alum. War Eagle! Seth Hall ('99)
