Greetings!
It's been a very busy Summer for The Atlanta Auburn Club! Now, it's time for some SEC Football!
So, to get the season started off right, join us this Thursday, August 30th, for some after work socializing and Tiger Talk at The Bucket Shop. Full details are below.
If you just got your copy of the ALUM magazine, you'll notice some photos from our Orange Bandana Day at Piedmont Dog Park in June. We've got a second date penciled in for October 14th, the Sunday after the Arkansas game -- so be sure to check our website for updates.
And while you have your calendar out -- be sure to put a big ORANGE circle around November 10th! That's when we'll be headed to a different DAWG park -- a trip we make every two years. The Atlanta Auburn Club Bus Trip heads to Athens for some tailgating fun and a much hoped for victory Between The Hedges. Why drive when you can get the fun started earlier and ride with busloads of Tigers?!! Details about the bus trip in the next few weeks. If you want to get on the list now -- send us an email!
Finally, The Atlanta Auburn Club wants to thank EVERYONE who has attended our events this Summer -- and there certainly have been a lot of them! From the dog park outing -- to our annual golf tournament, the big Scholarship Fundraising Evening with Coach Tuberville at the Waverly, our recent visit to Turner Field, and our very fun outing at The Varsity. We have had a great time and we hope you have too! But the fun doesn't stop here...the Braves have offered us a chance at some more fun in September, the Thrashers head back to the ice in October ...and, of course... THE AUBURN TIGERS' 2007 FOOTBALL SEASON BEGINS ON SATURDAY!!!

Metro Atlanta...Are You Ready?!!! Meet at The Bucketshop Thursday! Time to Get Warmed Up for Some Football! After Work Social Hour Starts at 5:30 p.m.

Less than a week now until the Auburn Tigers take the field at Jordan-Hare for the start of the 2007 College Football Season. Tiger Walk...Tailgating...Toomer's Corner... and seeing all that ORANGE around Pat Dye Field! Kickoff for Saturday's home opener versus Kansas State is at 7:45 PM ET. The game will also be broadcast on ESPN.
To celebrate the start of another season, join The Atlanta Auburn Club this Thursday, August 30th, at The Bucket Shop for some networking and pre-game fun! Wear your Auburn colors and let's talk about the season --- and all those BIG away games we've got this year.
Is Southern Cal really the preseason #1 -- or just the perennial media darling? When will the national sports media start realizing that the PAC 10 would never survive in the SEC! Which teams do you think will be contenders in the SEC East? And how about the all-important West? Can LSU join forces with Auburn this year to BEAT BAMA? Georgia has to face the Tide in Tuscaloosa -- how is that one going to end? What about Tennessee and Arkansas.... and of course the Swamp dwellers -- Florida?
There's a lot to talk about -- and just days remain until kickoff. So come on out after work on Thursday and join the Atlanta Auburn Club for some Tiger Talk...before the Tiger Walk! We'll be looking for you!! ____________________________

Irons' Tailgate at Bengals-Falcons Game August 27th -- Postponed Change of plans necessary because of Kenny's injury in game versus Detroit Lions
The Atlanta Auburn Club had announced at our Tuberville event that we'd be getting together with the Irons family again for a pre-game tailgate prior to the Falcons-Bengals game.
But because of Kenny's injury in the Bengals' exhibition opener against the Lions --- the plans for this special event, which was scheduled for tomorrow, August 27th, are now on hold.
The former Auburn running back suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and a damaged meniscus on his fourth carry as a pro. Irons will miss the 2007 season but is expected to make a full recovery.
If we get further details from Kenny & David's I 2 I Foundation that the event has been rescheduled --- we'll let you know!

Great Night & Great Fun for Auburn Tigers at Turner Field

Thanks to all the metro area Tigers who joined the Atlanta Auburn Club on Thursday, August 16th for our outing to watch the Braves play the San Francisco Giants! The Braves didn't win but our group of nearly 100 Auburn Tigers enjoyed a great night out --- despite the Summer heat!
Here are some pictures from the evening. Be sure to see below for news of another chance to represent the Tigers at Turner Field in September!

Represent Auburn at the Braves' "College Night" on September 20th
While you are waiting to head to The Plains for the Tigers' home game versus New Mexico State on September 22nd (Kickoff 7p ET) -- come on out to Turner Field and show your Auburn colors!
The Braves have invited all Auburn alumni and students to a special "College Night" group event -- and our contact in the sales office is holding a block of tickets for Auburn Tigers!!!
We've heard there is a decent chance that Auburn's Tim Hudson will be pitching that night when the Braves face the Milwaukee Brewers. Game time is at 7:35 PM. The first 15,000 fans will get a John Smoltz statue. There are about 300 tickets available in the Auburn block for this game. To reserve your seats in the half-price Auburn block before they are all gone, shout out an email "War Eagle!" to Justin Johnson, our group sales representative at the Braves office, email: justin.johnson@turner.com and put "Auburn Group- Sept 20th" in the subject line. If you have any problems, email the club and we can help you reach him: communications@atlantaauburnclub.org

New Auburn Tradition in Atlanta Starts at The Varsity

"What'll ya have ... what'll ya have..." The Atlanta Auburn Club was up bright and early on Saturday, August 4th for an 'All Auburn-All Orange' event at The Varsity Downtown.
The World's Largest and Oldest Drive-in provided the perfect backdrop for our event. It was a great opportunity to meet and talk to a lot of Auburn alumni and metro area students, who were headed to Auburn for their freshman year! And we even surprised a number of Tigers who had simply stopped by for some lunch --- saw all the Auburn license plates in the parking lot --- and ended up sharing a "War Eagle!" with us... and a hotdog!
Many thanks to everyone who came out for this event! We plan to do it agan next year -- afterall, the owner of The Varsity now has a Tiger in the family!
And if anyone ever spots an ORANGE perfectly decorated Auburn jeep driving around Cobb County -- be sure to shout out a "War Eagle!" to Poppy Nelson! We hope that Poppy will be bringing that amazing jeep to more Atlanta Auburn Club events!

How High Will They Go?!! What Auburn Club Special Tag Numbers Have You Seen?!!
Okay, we've all been reading the headlines this Summer in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution touting the possible Gator tag in Georgia! Well, guess what?!! AUBURN fans have had one since January 2006!!! So there's no excuse for any Tiger fans in Georgia not to have one of these "AU" beauties!
There are about 18,500 alumni in the
metro Atlanta area alone, and some 30,000 Tiger alums statewide. And that's not even including the extended Auburn friends and family that call Georgia home.
What's the lowest and highest numbers you've spotted on the highways?
While the rest of those other schools (Florida, Tennessee, Alabama among them) attempt to navigate the Georgia DMV requirements -- it is time to spread the word about the Auburn Club Special Tag license plate! We've already got it -- and we want to make sure that no other out-of-state school comes close to us in the number of plates on the road!
The Atlanta Auburn Club's success in getting this tag launched spurred on the Auburn Tigers in Mississippi, so they'll be joining the states of Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia in the ever-expanding Tiger Tags Nation! And now, Auburn applications are being collected in North Carolina too! Help us spread the good news!
For more information on all of these Auburn tag efforts click here
And for more information about the Auburn tag in Georgia, see our club website. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at: communications@atlantaauburnclub.org War Eagle!
