Happy Valentine's Day
I wish that each day of the year is a day of love for you! Valentine's Day is a good day to love your self! Be good to you. Buy yourself some flowers, and do something fun. Go to a movie, buy some pop corn and enjoy your self and your own company. You deserve a day of love. Give it to your self. I remember a time when I was in the desert for a few weeks alone after a break up, and it was one of the best times of my life. I learned to do movies, go to dinner, and hang out with "ME" and to enjoy my own company. It truly changed my life, for the best. When I was in my twenties, I could barely go to the grocery store alone. Wow, what a distance I had traveled emotionally in a couple of decades, to a place where I was truly comfortable in my own skin and with me. Now, I realize I love so much; family, friends, good books, dogs, good wine, movies, laughter, art, fun and crazy times, making wonderful memories, traveling, and so much more... Think about all you love too and you will be full of love. I hope your memories of this special day about love and celebrating it will warm and fill your heart and that you make some new memories today, too.
I send lots of love to you too,
Kathy
People travel to wonder at the height of mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long courses of rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars; and they pass by themselves without wondering. ~ St. Augustine

Love Story
The more hurt and pain you have gone thru in life, the stronger and more beautiful your heart will be...
One day a young man was standing in the middle of the town proclaiming that he had the most beautiful heart in the whole valley. A large crowd gathered and they all admired his heart for it was perfect. There was not a mark or a flaw in it. Yes, they all agreed it truly was the most beautiful heart they had ever seen. The young man was very proud and boasted more loudly about his beautiful heart.
Suddenly, an old man appeared at the front of the crowd and said, "Why your heart is not nearly as beautiful as mine." The crowd and the young man looked at the old man's heart. It was beating strongly, but full of scars, it had places where pieces had been removed and other pieces put in, but they didn't fit quite right and there were several jagged edges. In fact, in some places there were deep gouges where whole pieces missing.
The people stared. How can he say his heart is more beautiful?? they thought. The young man looked at the old man's heart and saw its state and laughed. "You must be joking," he said. "Compare your heart with mine, mine is perfect and yours is a mess of scars and tears."
"Yes," said the old man, "Yours is perfect looking but I would never trade with you. You see, every scar represents a person to whom I have given my love - I tear out a piece of my heart and give it to them, and often they give me a piece of their heart which fits into the empty place in my heart, but because the pieces aren't exact, I have some rough edges, which I cherish, because they remind me of the love we shared. Sometimes I have given pieces of my heart away, and the other person hasn't returned a piece of his heart to me. These are the empty gouges - giving love is taking a chance. Although these gouges are painful, they stay open, reminding me of the love I have for these people too, and I hope someday they may return and fill the space I have waiting. So now do you see what true beauty is?"
The young man stood silently with tears running down his cheeks. He walked up to the old man, reached into his perfect young and beautiful heart, and ripped a piece out. He offered it to the old man with trembling hands. The old man took his offering, placed it in his heart and then took a piece from his old scarred heart and placed it in the wound in the young man's heart. It fit, but not perfectly, as there were some jagged edges. The young man looked at his heart, not perfect anymore but more beautiful than ever, since love from the old man's heart flowed into his. They embraced and walked away side by side. Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. ~ Dr. Leo Buscaglia

Anything you do from the soulful self will help lighten the burdens of the world. Anything. You have no idea what the smallest word, the tiniest generosity can cause to be set in motion. Be outrageous in forgiving. Be dramatic in reconciling. Mistakes? Back up and make them as right as you can, then move on. Be off the charts in kindness. In whatever you are called to, strive to be devoted to it in all aspects large and small. Fall short? Try again. Mastery is in increments, not in leaps. Be brave, be fierce, be visionary. Mend the parts of the world that are "within your reach." To live this way is the most dramatic gift you can ever give to the world. Consider yourselves assigned. ~Clarissa Pinkola Estes

Love comes to those who love, who find their joy In others' joy, their tears in others' tears. Those in need receive the gifts that buoy Them through the misspent yearnings of their years. Weakness is a strength, and power none, For none has power to compel affection. Passion to the self-consumed may come, But love looks for the grace of its reflection. Love is like a tide that comes and goes, And comes and goes according to the moon, Giving and receiving as it flows Between high headlands weathered and rough-hewn. For love becomes itself the cause of love, A double-knot not easy to remove.
