Family Thanksgiving Dinner

Happy New Year to You!

I hope this finds you well and off to a great start for creating an amazing 2009!  That would mean you have thought about all that worked and all that did not in 2008.  You have also taken inventory of what you want to let go or carry forward from last year's wish list. I hope you have a sense of direction in each area of your life and in your business if you are still involved with a career.  I also hope you have created a bright and bold picture of some of the changes you are looking at creating, and maybe have gone so far as to write a plan of options and goals.  (The secret to success is to write goals down.)  Have you thought of who you need to BE to create this beautiful picture? This is central to consciously creating the great year you are forecasting for YOU.  You CAN make this one your best year ever.

There has been a lot of conversation about change lately.  Change is a good thing!  It is the only thing we know is constant.  So why do we struggle so much with it?  Why are we afraid of what is new?  New can be very good!  It opens doors and brings opportunity.  I jumped into new when I moved to San Diego and again 18 years later when I started my own business.  Both took courage and the rewards have been huge.  I imagine quite a few people will be starting their own new business this year.  Out of the employment challenges will come great new ideas and new companies, many started at the kitchen table or out of the garage. Many job skills are transferable.  They are like gems, valuable.

Are you into social networking yet? My change in the last six months has been the addition of social media, namely learning and adding new technology and online networking to my skill set.  Last fall I signed up for an advanced class in marketing and *how to* develop an online business.  I have a vision of adding group coaching to my services  and it meant learning more about what is important for today's market.  That led me into social networking, which led me to Facebook, Twitter and now blogging.  Wow, I am having a ball with it.  It is all about connection and relationship vs selling to grow your business.  Thirteen years ago when I started On Track, I had to become computer savvy.  Now it is learning how to use social media for businesses growth.  I find it fun, creative and it keeps me connected with family, has added many new friends and awesome online resources.  And I see many new entrepreneurs showing up there too as they start their new ventures.

Here, again, comes change.  Things are rapidly changing around you and you have to keep learning just to stay current. Plus it is good for your brain to learn new things too.  It keeps you young!  So I encourage you to embrace change.  Embrace what is new and don't be fearful of it.  A new community, a new relationship, a new job...just think about what the best case scenario would look like.  What is your intention?  As you see the best picture in your mind, let it guide you to the best outcome.  And before you know it you will be in the middle of
one of your best years ever.

Are You Living Your Life By Default or By Design?

All too often we spend our days on auto pilot, coasting through time like robots day in and day out. A friend of mine stopped in to tell me about her day. She went to work early because she had a meeting with her supervisor. When she stepped out of her car and put both feet on the ground she realized that not only did she have different shoes on but they were different heights as well. OOPS.

When she told me the story, I laughed like crazy, since time had passed, she did as well. This is a great example of how she was on auto pilot and not living in the Now. She was so concerned about her meeting that she never even checked in with herself to see how she looked.

When we are Awake for the moments in our lives, we can truly learn to appreciate the miracles that all too often get taken for granted. When our auto pilot is turned off, we feel a rewarding freshness and aliveness. We experience living a life that is passionately fulfilled inspiring others to do the same; an astounding life that results from making deliberate choices.

"The state of your life is nothing more than a reflection of your state of mind."  Dr. Wayne W. Dyer. When we simply coast through our days, we are not making conscious decisions. This ends up taking us down a path that we never would have chosen otherwise.

So now I ask you, are you living your life by Default or by Design?

Chaos
"One must still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star." ~ Friedrich Nietzsche from Thus Spoke Zarasthustra

Isn't that a beautiful image?  So we've all got a bit of (or a lot of! :) that "chaos within," eh?!
Here's a switch: Let's EMBRACE it.
As Joseph Campbell says, if you want omelets, you've gotta be willing to break some eggs. :)
So, let's quit trying to deny the challenges or to avoid "breaking any eggs." If we wanna give birth to the divine star within, we've gotta learn to dance with the chaos.
Deep breath in. Exhale...
Relax into it a bit. Smile. :)
Know you're growing and that it's this chaos that gives birth to your dancing star...
