Major New Incentives for Home Performance
Pay Half-Price for Home Energy Improvements
|
To encourage Maryland homeowners to take the proven, safe and effective Home Performance path for home energy improvements, the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) is funding the Maryland Home Performance Rebate Program.
By combining a NEW 35% rebate (up to $3,100 total) from the MEA with a 15% rebate from your utility, you can cover 50% of the cost of the most commonly recommend home energy improvements up to $4,600/home. Plus, after the combined MEA-Utility Rebates, your Home Energy Audit costs just $145 (regularly $495).
However, only $1 million in MEA rebates is available and it must be spent by 9/1/2011. Since the program's start January 1, about 1/3 of the money has been reserved, and TerraLogos customer's have already reserved about $60,000.
Act NOW to take advantage of this new Rebate Program while the funds last. The first step is to have a qualified Home Performance contractor like TerraLogos Energy Group perform a BPI Certified Energy Audit for your home.

Financing Your Projects Many homeowners would like to invest in energy efficiency improvements, but they need financing to do so. Obtaining a loan can be difficult and time consuming. To make financing energy improvements easy, the MEA and the Maryland Clean Energy Center are sponsoring the Maryland Home Energy Loan Program. The program provides unsecured home energy improvement loans for up to $20,000 at a low 6.99% interest rate.
Select up to a 10-year term for low monthly payments - only $81/month for a $7,000 loan. You can get easy and quick approval by phone with no application or setup fees and no penalty for pre-payment.
TerraLogos is a certified agent of the Loan Program and can help you with applying for financing as part of our home performance improvement process.
Tell Your (Best) Friends We encourage you to pass on this information about these new programs to family, neighbors and friends. Let them know that TerraLogos can help them too.
BUT, you might want to call us first (410-225-5040) to schedule your Home Energy Audit. We want you to get your share of these rebates while funding lasts.
Join the legions of Maryland homeowners who have made the switch to energy efficiency with the Home Performance Program. Not only will you save money now on your home improvements, but the energy efficiency upgrades will help you save money on energy bills for years to come.

Fixing Hidden Energy Leaks
Systemic Duct Sealing
|

Systemic Duct Sealing with Aeroseal
|
We always talk about finding and fixing the hidden energy leaks. One of the most common leaks we find in Maryland homes hides in the ducts of heating and cooling systems.
Air leaks at the seams and connections of most duct systems are big energy wasters. If you have duct work, it almost assuredly leaks.
Good news: these leaks are easy to spot during the Energy Audit and TerraLogos Contracting has a low-cost and effective fix, Systemic Duct Sealing. The process takes less than a day, and can seal all leaks 3/8" or less without the need for opening up walls. Click on the photo above for a sideshow of the process or here for another TerraLogos duct sealing video.
TerraLogos customers have experienced excellent results, cost-effectively decreasing duct leakage by up to 90% using this safe and environmentally friendly process. PLUS, duct sealing qualifies for the MEA and utility rebates, so 50% your cost for this energy improvement will be covered! You pay half-price.

Goodbyes and Hellos
Farewell to Tory, Welcome to Wayne & Cory
| Tory Brueck started working with TerraLogos in the summer of 2008, and was instrumental in building the company throughout our early years. All who worked with him, whether staff, customers or business associates, valued his knowledge, dedication and hard work. You always wanted Tory on your team.
 | Wayne |
In December, Tory took a position as Director of Operations for IPS Learning. The company has a strong partnership with Stanford University, providing advanced project management training to large corporate clients including Google, Cisco, HP, IBM, Oracle, Intel, Intuit and many others. Tory is responsible for IT, Facilities, Contracts and other areas of business operations for their new location in McLean, VA.
We all wish him the best in his new capacity, and know that he will come by often to see us at TerraLogos.
On the Hello side, we welcomed 2 new members to TerraLogos in the last few months, Wayne Yinger and Cory Fox. Wayne replaces Tory as Manager of Building Performance Contracting. He brings over 15 years experience as a General Contractor to the position, as well as being a BPI Certified Building Analyst. Wayne will be overseeing all aspects of TerraLogos Contracting Services to provide top quality improvements with the custom attention TerraLogos is known for.
 | Cory | As interest in Home Performance continues to grow, we are fortunate to have found another excellent addition to our team in Cory Fox. With a background in commercial construction and a passion for the environment, Cory has just the right abilities to make him a great Building Analyst. He has already completed dozens of energy audits in preparation for taking his BPI certification exam shortly.
It is the people that make a company, and we are very fortunate to have such great ones. See the rest of the staff here.

Another Super Service Award from Angie's list
|
 | Previous Award 2008 |
We love Angie's list. Even though we are a general contractor, we still have projects that are outside our expertise. Angie makes it easy for us to find the right business for the job.
So, we are very proud that we have again received their Super Service Award. SSA's are awarded to only about 5% of the companies on Angie's list as recognition for maintaining a superior rating for their service.
Thanks to all of our customers who have filed such glowing reports about about our work. If you are a subscriber, you can see our listing here.

Alternative to Air Conditioning
Energy Product - Whole House Fans
|
Are you worried about high energy bills this summer? Americans spend $22 billion each year to cool their homes using air conditioning, so there's cause for worry. A whole house fan could be the solution you are looking for.
An environmentally-friendly whole house fan can be installed in either the ceiling or wall on the top floor of your home. It cost-effectively pulls the cool, outside air into your home, as it efficiently pushes the hot, stale air out.
Whole house fans reduce the need for A/C to save you money, as they use less than 5% of the energy that a central air conditioning system does. So you are comfortabe while saving 95% on your home cooling costs! These aren't your grandmother's whole house fans either. Old models of these fans were big, noisy, and leaked air like a sieve. Modern models are small, quiet, energy efficient, and well air-sealed & insulated. Effective use of a whole house fan only requires that you turn the fan on in the morning and evening, when the outside air is the coolest. Then, you will only need to use your A/C on very hot or very humid days, and save a lot of money in the process. The TerraLogos Contracting department has lots of experience installing these fans properly, so that the full benefits are obtained. Please let us know if this solution is of interest. |

What We Do |
TerraLogos provides energy improvement contracting to find and fix the hidden energy leaks that cause high energy bills and make buildings uncomfortable.
Our process begins with a BPI Certified Energy Audit. The resulting report targets energy use reduction. But it's a 5-step process: - We comprehensively collect data during the Audit to accurately diagnose the energy issues of your home or building;
- We create a cost-effective, prioritized treatment plan specific to your property;
- We properly perform your recommended improvements following the whole-building approach;
- We perform follow-up testing to ensure that the work was performed safely and completely;
- We assist you with filing for available incentives.
The TerraLogos process provides Maryland property owners with cost-effective solutions to simultaneously
- save money on utility bills,
- make homes and buildings more comfortable and healthy, and
- reduce our impact on the environment.

Powered by Wind
|
TerraLogos has been buying Green Tags for years to offset our carbon emissions and operate as a carbon neutral company.
In 2010, we took the next very easy step and started purchasing 100% wind power for all our electrical needs. Clean Currents
made it so easy, we kick ourselves that we didn't
do it ages ago.
Clean Currents, a local MD based company, offers competitively priced wind power through the grid to residents and businesses in DC, MD, DE, and PA.
We encourage you to make the switch for yourself.
|

| Local Currency Accepted |
For every dollar spent at a locally owned business, $45 stays in the community. For every dollar spent at a chain store, only $14 comes back.
As a locally owned Baltimore green business, we strongly support buying local and its many advantages (see CSBA's list here).
So, we are very pleased to be a supporting business in Baltimore's new green currency, the BNote. TerraLogos will accept BNotes for up to 10% of the cost of our audit - up to $50 in BNotes/audit.
You'll be able to exchange $10 US for $11 of B-Notes (a 10% upfront savings!) and use them at any of the fifty Baltimore businesses that are currently accepting the notes.
