The US Postal Service is making it easier for all of us to do the right thing.
They are providing free mailers for safe recycling and
disposal. Pick them up at any Post Office. Pop in your techno trash. Drop it
in the nearest blue box.
The USPS will do the rest by disposing of the items properly. You can use these bags for:
- disposable batteries
- empty ink cartilages

old cell phones and portables
-
chargers and cables

Easy Payback in Less Than a Year
Insulating Your Water Pipes Is Easy
|
Insulating domestic hot water pipes is one of the easiest and most cost-effective measures you can do. The cost of pipe insulation is about
$0.29 to $0.35 per foot.
Savings will depend on heating fuel (see
below), but in all cases the payback is well within one year.
- Annual Savings (Oil Heat @ $1.10/gallon): $0.58/ft
- Annual Savings (Natural Gas @ $0.75/therm): $0.56/ft
- Annual Savings (Electricity $0.10/kWh: $1.20/ft
Use pipe insulation on all accessible hot water pipes plus the first 6 feet of cold water piping closest to the heater.
Pipe insulation will help to reduce heat loss by up to 80 percent
through hot water pipes and can also help reduce plumbing noise.
