| Act Now and Save
Schedule a Home Energy Inspection©
|
Yes, electricity prices went up 50% starting June 1st. But BGE customers are really paying 72% more for electricity now than in May of 2006. This is now market rate. The days of cheap energy are over.
At the same time, we are all concerned about our dependency on foreign oil, and the detrimental impacts caused by burning fossil fuels.
So, what is the least expensive renewable energy resource? Answer: Conservation.
Start with your own home by identifying its hidden energy leaks with a TerraLogos Home Energy Inspection©. You will save money on energy bills and reduce your environmental impact. Sign up for an inspection here.
Read two Baltimore Sun articles about the rate hike - 1) answering questions on the BGE rate hike here and 2) how it is effecting homeowners here.

Promotions with 1000 Friends and Herring Run
|
Helping our local community is integral to the TerraLogos' company vision. In May, we donated a Home Energy Inspection© on behalf of 1000 Friends of Maryland for their online auction. Congratulations to the winning bidder, Barbara Wilcox, and thanks to her for helping to support environmental efforts in our state.
Now we have partnered with the Herring Run Watershed Association to promote their Annual Giving Drive. For each donation of $100 or more to the HRWA, TerraLogos will offer a 10% discount off of a Home Energy Inspection. Read more about this program here.

| Ban the Bulb
Follow Australia's and California's Lead
|
Australia and California have made headlines recently by passing laws that ban the sale of incandescent light bulbs by 2010 and 2012 respectively. The European Union and the US Senate are considering similar measures. Read more here.
Globally, lighting is equal in emission contribution to about 70% of the world's passenger vehicles! That's a lot of greenhouse gases.
LED's look like they will be the final solution (read NY Times on LEDs), but they are still very expensive right now. But compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs) are available now and priced right. Start saving electricity and reducing emissions right away by switching-out your most used bulbs.
We have tested CFLs to find which ones work best. Plus, you will receive a 10% TerraLogos discount when you order on-line from EFI. Check out our selections and find out how to place your discounted order here.
CFL bulbs need to be recycled properly because they contain small amounts of mercury. Ikea will recyle all brands of CFL bulbs for free if you simply bring them to their store. Their White Marsh location is convenient for Baltimore.

| In the News with Sarbanes
Demonstration of our Inspection Process
|
Home Energy Inspections© have been receiving attention locally.
In June, Baltimore City Council President candidate, Michael Sarbanes, announced his proposal to promote home energy efficiency audits and create jobs to get the energy improvement work done.
TerraLogos was consulted by Sarbanes about his proposal, and we organized a demonstration Home Energy Inspection© to show him what we do. Read the Baltimore Sun article about Sarbane's proposal and see photos from the demonstration here.
