January 2009
Greetings!

Welcome to the Winter edition of my Practitioner newsletter.
I have been reading a lot over the winter months and thought that I would share with you some of my favorite books at the moment. I have also included a few homeopathic websites that you may or may not know about.
I was asked by readers to add more photos last time, so have included more in this issue, I hope that you enjoy them.
I wish you a successful practice in 2009.

Warmest best wishes,
Mike

The Foundation of the Chronic Miasms in Homeopathy Henny Heudens-Mast
This is the clearest explanation of the use of the miasms that I have ever read. Henny is a very classical European Homeopath of the type that gives one dose of a remedy and waits three months or more before repeating, but if you think that you can learn from her way of working there are some great polycrest cases and a clear explanation of the application of misamatic theory. The book concludes with three MS cases - psoric, sycotic and syphillitic.
Desktop Companion to Physical Pathology Roger Morrison
This is a book that I have had for many years and refer to frequently, in my opinion it is the best therapeutics book published. Much of the information is the type of thing that I had to learn through long years of practice and would have loved to have had when I first started in practice.

Clinical Observations of Children's Remedies Farokh J Master
There has always been a real lack of materia medica covering how the remedies are expressed in children, apart from Paul Herscu's excellent 'Homeopathic Treatment of Children' and Master's book goes a long way towards filling the gap. It is based on his clinical experience and observations rather than always backed up with materia medica and provings, but a very useful resource.

Children: Homeopathic Materia Medica with Repertorial Symptoms Roberto Petrucci. This book contains information on  543 remedies and how they are expressed in children. Many small and new remedies are covered. some information is more theoretical and some from cured cases. Many of the drug pictures of new or smaller remedies would also help understanding your adult patients too.

I tried to get links to take you direct to a good book review at Minimum Price Books, but was unable to do so for some technical reason, but do read more about the books either there or at Minerva Books.

Practice, experience, training and passions

I graduated from Misha Norlands's School of Homeopathy in 1990 and have been in practice ever since. I have clinics in London and West Sussex and worked in Madeira for a short while.

I am currently a Clinical Supervisor at the University of Westminster on the BSc (Hons) Health Sciences: Homeopathy degree course. In the past I have taught at the London College of Classical Homeopathy and run college clinics there, and at  Purton House Homeopathic Center.

I have been supervising homeopathy students since the early 90's from all of the above schools. I also offer supervision one to one and in groups at post graduate level.

Apart from homeopathy, especially case taking and materia medica, my passions include supervision, meditation, gardening and internet marketing.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Mike

The purpose of this newsletter is to share with you a few ideas that you might find interesting and to let you know how I might be able to help you in your practice.
