  • Greetings!

I wanted to take this opportunity to wish you a happy Holiday Season and best wishes for a healthy 2007.

The season is fast approaching! As family and friends come together to celebrate, the role of documenting the occasion typically falls on my shoulders. Although I enjoy working with video evidence and the challenges CCTV systems impose, I am not a great videographer. My home movies are best watched during bouts of insomnia with some motion sickness medication.

I'm not much better with a digital camera either. When I was trained in photography, many of my early subjects didn't move. Snapping a few candids wasn't really the goal at a typical crime scene. So I find myself telling people to hold still and then... wait for it... take the picture. As a result, many of my family shots have a "rigor-like" feel to them.

If you find yourself in my position and are looking for tips on digital photography and videography for the holiday season, please check out the following two links: 8 Ways to Shoot Video Like a Pro by Rick Broida and Digital Photography Tips that Stick. Soon you'll be ready for the holidays, vacations or any group moment!

Resolution Video is here to help with your digital photography skills as well. In 2007 we will begin to offer Forensic Digital Photography - a hands-on class designed to teach investigators and crime scene personnel how to be more effective with a digital camera. We are currently looking for agencies to host this class. If you are interested, please download our hosting information form and contact us at training@resvid.com.

If you're also interested in attending some great training, check out our class offerings at www.resvid.com. We have recently added another class to our 2007 schedule. Adobe Photoshop for Forensic Video Analysts will be offered March 12 - 15, 2007 at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Details are listed below and on our website at www.resvid.com.

Thanks again for your continued support! Have a wonderful and safe holiday!

    Sincerely,

    Dorothy Stout
