ALLIUM HOSTS OPENING RECEPTION TO CELEBRATE
GABRIELLE SENZA'S NEW EXHIBITION AUGUST 9

Great Barrington, Mass. (August 5, 2009) - allium restaurant + bar of Great Barrington, Mass., will host an art opening featuring works of internationally recognized Berkshire-based artist Gabrielle Senza on Sunday, August 9, from 5 to 7 pm. The art event is free and open to the public, with complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar.

Gabrielle Senza, is the featured artist of Kolok Gallery's newest installation at allium. Included in the collections of institutions such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, MoMA New York, Lifetime Entertainment, JP Morgan Chase and Fidelity Investments, among others, Gabrielle Senza's industrial and bucolic landscapes, abstract paintings and installations have been exhibited in solo and traveling group shows throughout the U.S. and abroad.

The work exhibited at allium perfectly exemplifies the broad talent, creative energy and skilled hand of this highly acclaimed self-taught artist. The exhibited artwork will be available for sale, and additional works by the artist may be viewed at the Berkshire Art Kitchen in Great Barrington and Kolok Gallery at the Windsor Mill in North Adams.

"What I love about the exhibition at allium is how painting, mark-making and drawing all converge in one space, mapping out the ebb and flow of this decade's arduous journey towards light," says Senza. "The terrain I explore through my work is guided by intuition, deep listening and the connection to the emotional charge of the place - be it internal or external. The process aids in guiding my personal journey and surviving the terrifying past," she added.

Senza is the exclusive featured artist at allium, the newest addition to the Mezze Restaurant Group. Her work will be exhibited through October 2009. This installation marks two years since Kolok Gallery began selecting and installing the artwork for allium in addition to Mezze Restaurant Group's other venues including Mezze Bistro + Bar in Williamstown and CafÈ Latino at MASS MoCA.

Please contact Kolok Gallery at 413.664.7381 for additional information about the work of Gabrielle Senza or visit http://gabriellesenza.com/about/.
